Maybe it's the surveillance in general that young don't seem to mind. I have many students who don't mind all the surveillance they are subjected to in all parts of their lives. Some don't mind that corporations are listening in on their private conversation if it helps get them deals at the store.

Corporations spend more than $1.5 billion a year on union-busting. That’s $1.5 billion they could have spent on higher wages, better benefits, and improving workplace safety. Remember: if they weren’t so scared of worker power, they wouldn’t fight so hard against unions.

Glassdoor has a very revealing report out on worker sentiment regarding AI. Workers' attitudes towards AI have grown increasingly negative, and extremely so in certain fields. This is happening as adoption is scaling, and workers have had *more* exposure. The more they use it, the less they like it.

Amazon's own balance sheet presents the most compelling evidence that we are stuck in the Enshittocene, the era in which everything is turning into a pile of shit, because the worst ideas of the worst people now make the most money. 1/
Hieronymus Bosch's 'The Conjuror,' a painting depicting a medieval con artist playing a shell game for an audience of astonished peasant rubes. The image has been altered: the conman now has Jeff Bezos's grinning head, and the mouths of all the peasants have been replaced with inverted Amazon 'Smile' logos, so they are now frowning.
