Why do medicines work differently for different people? One of the reasons is our genes, and this is because they can influence how our bodies respond to medicines. This area of research is known as pharmacogenomics. Swipe through the images below to learn more 🧬💊
Dark background with text asking 'What is pharmacogenomics?' alongside colourful shapes and the Genomics England logo.Illustration of a DNA strand on a green background, above text explaining "Pharmacogenomics is the study of how your genes can influence the way your body responds to medicines. Your DNA can affect how well a medicine works for you, or whether you're more likely to experience side effects"Illustration of a woman taking medicine with text explaining "Pharmacogenomics could help healthcare professionals: Choose the most effective medicine, Prescribe the right dose, Reduce the risk of side effects. The aim is to make treatment safer and more personalised"Illustration of a scientist analysing DNA sequences on a computer screen above text explaining "As research continues, pharmacogenomics has the potential to support more personalised prescribing across the NHS. Could you spot a fake pharmacy? Professional websites. Convincing reviews. But behind them might be criminals selling dangerous medicines. ✅ Only buy from pharmacies listed on the GPhC register. ✅ One simple check could save your life. How to check (🇬🇧): www.pharmacyregulation.org/how-check-on...

Re-posting with alt text because the post accompanying this is obviously wrong, it's clearly a picture of a woman on a Crosscountry train having found a place to sit on the floor and read, her coffee cup beside her, folks queuing for the loo behind her
Paddington The Magdalen Reading, c. 1435,
oil on panel, fragment of altarpiece by Rogier van der Weyden, influential Flemish artist (c.1400-1464), pupil of Robert Campin, court painter to Duke of Burgundy.
National Gallery London
A woman in a glowing green dress and a white head dress is sitting on the floor leaning against a cabinet. She is delicately turning the page, beside her, on the floor is a small alabaster jar, presumably of ointment. In the background two figures are standing in blue and red robes, we can't see their heads, behind them a window looks out onto green fields.
