I was proud to vote to put the Vote16 initiative on the ballot in November. Vote16 is a national youth led movement to lower the voting age to 16 for local elections. In Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, and many other cities across the country have already done it— Culver City could be next.

You can draw a straight line from Donald Shoup’s effective way of sharing his scholarship with the public to policy changes in hundreds of cities.

Culver City eliminated mandatory parking by a 3-2 vote in 2022.

A redline showing the old parking mandates versus Culver City’s amended parking regulation: “there shall be no minimum required parking for any use, except as may be determined through a Comprehensive Plan.” Almost everything else is repealed.
