I'm sorry to see you go. I just think it's astonishing that you think *campaigning for elections* is tribalism from *a political party*. 🤷

But you want to undermine democracy but limiting voters' choice. Only a campaigning Green Party that Burnham has to acknowledge is a threat to Labour's electoral chances will hold his feet to the fire. He's already backing Mahmood's immigration changes as he chances Reform voters.

What makes you believe Burnham? He's already ditching most of what he's said previously to "appeal to Reform voters." If Greens aren't an alternative, the Overton Window stays to the right. Greens will stand in the GM mayoral election so not campaign harms our long-term chances (who's myopic now?)

You have the choice to cancel your membership. You are arguing for people in Makerfield not to have the choice to vote Green. Labour need to win over Green voters not just Reform voters. Also, Restore are standing, splitting the extreme right vote & Green voters are most likely to vote tactically.

If Reform win by a margin smaller than the Green Vote, Labour will have to start thinking about how they realistically gain back such seats (it's not by being Reform-lite). A clever Starmer would bring in PR for the next GE. No referendum needed (Priti Patel set that precedent).

I don't get the argument that says a Reform win in Makerfield is a big deal. It's one more MP, their candidate is already riddled in scandal, a Reform loss would lead to complacency about Reform at the next GE.

This headline is fuel for the right-wing anti-migrant reaction machine, but the article reveals the employer knowingly brought her to the UK under a visitor visa to employ her, then denied her a work permit—and most importantly!—refused to pay her any wages. This looks approximate to modern slavery

Splitting which vote? Your bio says you're a socialist? There's no socialist option without the Greens. Green and Labour don't hold the same principles. People who want progressive policies won't be voting Labour and neither should they be expected to.

History has taught me that Labour politicians will offer change but disappoint. I'll be campaigning for a Green win because at the very least, we move the Overton Window. There's a chance that we win Makerfield, sustaining momentum and giving more voters a hardworking Green MP 💚

This by-election will be the focus of UK politics for weeks. The Green Party cannot allow Burnham to go unchallenged from the left or allow Reform to set the terms of debate alone. At the very least we must hold him to account. But we must aim to win.

If Labour had just put people in place that liked trans people, none of this would be happening. It's not that trans people are powerful, it's that people who hate trans people tend to hate loads of others as well, and prefer making things worse than doing anything to help.
