Some of the richest people in the world want a racial caste system, and they want scholarly backing for that in the form of racist pseudoscience. And a lot of ostensibly non racist people quietly agree, and don’t like to see those who peddle that pseudoscience excluded from mainstream institutions.

Do you lack reading comprehension? I aint repeating myself if all you care about are bike lanes when I was literally giving other reasons why folks aren't so happy about them. Not everyone who isnt enthusiastic about bike lanes is some NIMBY who loves their car.

Ally 🏳️‍🌈🥔 (oldAzz) @broken-tater.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

When your city commission touts the newest bike lane as a sign of progress without following up with better public tranist AND affordable housing, then dont be surprised when folks view bike lanes as a vanity project. Its a band-aid on a festering wound.

Ally 🏳️‍🌈🥔 (oldAzz) @broken-tater.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

My point is that there are better things to spend money on to alleviate congestion. Better public transit should be priority #1, followed by easing up on zoning laws to allow dense housing, THEN bike lanes.

Put Kettle On
The boiler's gone.
The dog's been sick.
The car has made a worrying click.
The bank has rung.
The roof might leak.
You've lost your phone for half a week.
Put kettle on.
The news is grim.
The trains are late.
You've accidentally tempted fate.
Your boss has sent
"Can we just chat?"
There's something dead beneath the mat.
Put kettle on.
No milk?
Now that's a crisis.

We know in Star Trek the Federation developed synthahol, allegedly alcohol without “negative effects, so does that also imply the existence of synthabbis? Synthstacy? Synthal meth?

Ally 🏳️‍🌈🥔 (oldAzz) @broken-tater.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

But dont forget, there are legit reasons why some folk dont want a bike lane right away.

Ally 🏳️‍🌈🥔 (oldAzz) @broken-tater.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

Like, the one thing I cant stand about most urbanists is the tone deafness towards the poor. Sure, yall can go after NIMBYs and wealthy folk who oppose bike lanes for the dumbest of reasons, hell I'll join you on that.

Ally 🏳️‍🌈🥔 (oldAzz) @broken-tater.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

Here in my city, we have a huge cost of living problem, homelessness is rampant, and we've had to fight for continuing to fund our local transit service. Yet the city wants to tout our bike lanes as progressive. When people are suffering and you care more about the bike lane, THAT IS A STATUS SYMBOL

200

Ally 🏳️‍🌈🥔 (oldAzz) @broken-tater.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

I agree, problem is we dont do things holistically and bike lanes end up being more of a status symbol than actual good infrastructure.

210

Ally 🏳️‍🌈🥔 (oldAzz) @broken-tater.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

My only problem with bike lanes, at least here in the USA, is HOW they're implemented. 9 times out of 10 something beneficial like bike lanes is hardly followed up with increased funding for public transit and/or increase of frequency. Not everyone CAN or wants to ride a bike to get everywhere.
