Brain health impacts so much more than just mental health (think neurodevelopmental issues, neurodegenerative diseases across the life span, and neurological disorders in addition to psychological wellbeing and behaviour). I promise, this info is critical for each of us, and we can act on it.

A new report from 500+ neuroscientists lays out how heat, air pollution, and climate-driven food insecurity affect brain health across the lifespan. Only 3% of national climate plans mention mental health at all. I wrote up the findings: unthinkable.substack.com/p/your-brain-on-a-warming-planet

Disaster recovery is a second full-time job nobody trains you for. A year after the 2025 LA wildfires, 67% of survivors were still displaced; 73% named mental health stress their biggest challenge. New piece on what that data taught us: unthinkable.substack.com/p/disaster-recovery-is-a-full-time

I'm returning to writing regular newsletters, but this time around Unthinkable is no longer a parallel project running alongside my research at Stanford; it’s where I process and share what that research in climate, mental health and resilience is actually teaching me, in real time.

8 months ago I had a baby. I also moved my family in a way that upended everything, went back to Stanford FT, and have been navigating the depths around my dear dad's Alzheimer's. So I've been quiet, but now I'm back. Today Unthinkable is back too — with a new shape to showcase agency and action.
