One of the best games of all time, IMHO.

You had to specify “as a parent” because you knew we’d assume you yourself got in trouble at school, right?

I feel pretty strongly about the way most of us (naturally, I think) *really* want to believe that terrible people can't be attractive, or can't be talented, or can't create good art... It is much more uncomfortable for us to accept that sometimes horrible people are just like the rest of us.

I've listened to a lot of stuff lately about how the future of "content" (particularly on the internet) is supposed to be personalized. That things should be "liquid" and conform to the reader. I feel like that totally misses the point of most of the things I want to engage with.

It feels genuinely ridiculous having to say this, but the point of art is to connect with another human. Someone thought of that painting or melodic line or scene or paragraph that is suddenly making you weep, and that means that they saw you and understood you without even meeting you.

Turns out the bulk of this seems to be coming from the End Poem that plays when you beat Minecraft (I’m a fake gamer who’s only ever beat the Ender Dragon in creative mode so I was unfamiliar), but it’s still a bizarre thing to see here jumbled up with the government stuff.

Depending on what system you have it on you may need to redeem or "purchase" (for free) the remastered version, but yes, the upgrade should be free for you.

Confirmed this myself and was met with the depressing information that even in this extremely bizarre land of hallucinated Minecraft I still need to bring two forms of ID, because I am alive.
America.gov chatbot response to “play Minecraft” that says “You. You. You are alive. You still have to bring two forms of ID.”

If you're way into the story/world of Control Resonant and want more of that in book form, I really enjoyed reading "There Is No Antimemetics Division" earlier this year and think the vibes are on a similar wavelength.

Go ahead and give Dan, @janochoa.bsky.social and @giantbomb.com a Webby nomination. This is great stuff.

I get that I should have bought and started installing Control Resonant earlier today instead of waiting until I wanted to play it tonight, but it’s still a bummer that the “Ready to Play” status on PS5 means “You can play for about 10 minutes, then you’ve gotta wait again.”

I don't like setting my fantasy football lineups, either. This is why I have made the crucial decision to not sign up for any fantasy football leagues.

I have a lot of feelings about this and most of them aren't great. I'd love for someone to come rescue Arkane and Ninja Theory, but with the state of the industry as a whole right this second... Man... A lot of books will be written about this specific rise and fall period of Microsoft.

Narnia means a lot to me, and I have a lot of faith in Greta Gerwig. The "rock opera" touchstone is interesting. but I'll let her cook. (And she's right, Narnia was *literally* [in-fiction] made with singing.) Also, this image of Charn (I assume) looks cool. 🤷‍♂️

This is the sort of journalism we get when a newsroom isn't beholden to SEO, chasing guide traffic or ... *shudders* pumping out garbage with AI. Someone had a question, looked into it, and wrote about it! Nice job, @adashtra.bsky.social.

One cool thing about a lot of FPS games in the N64 era (like Turok) was that you could change the blood color. My very strict, very anti-gun mom was ever so slightly more accepting of me playing a game if my enemies at least bled green instead of red, because it was less lifelike.

Shoot, this sucks. The Moss games were truly great VR experiences with a lot of charm. I've been meaning to check out the newer non-VR release they did.

The pitch in this video was that it was inspired by Infinity Blade and Souls-like games, which got my attention. (The striking visuals also helped.) I'm so glad that the Playdate is still going strong. Season 3 is looking interesting.

My Kirby-loving son is going to lose his mind when he sees this trailer. He gravitates to the open worlds of Mario Odyssey and Donkey Kong Bananza, so if this is that but Kirby it’s right up his alley.

This remake seems like a good place to go next? But honestly as long as you're up for more of that Zelda 1 "go to new dungeon, use new item to solve that dungeon, repeat" style as opposed to BotW, most of the games in the series hold up, IMHO.

A real, no joke thing my 7 year-old said when I showed him the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake trailer: "Wait, can you jump whenever you want? Then that's the game for me." (He has played but not finished the original OoT.)

It’s been a very long time since I’ve bought any sort of special edition console. Are the Nintendo ones usually more expensive than the standard system? A $20 premium on top of the $50 price hike that just happened this month feels… steep.

Do I already own these in both hardcover and softcover, one of which was signed by Rand Miller? Yes. Do I also have the more recent Book of Atrus re-release? Yes. Am I still going to get these? [Sigh] Probably.

My guess with Forza was that it’s dumb licensing stuff (since you also can’t buy the older games digitally anymore) but it looks like even the newer games don’t work so that’s weird?

"looks AI as fuck" is a very irresponsible thing to say about things that are expressly not using AI <3 idc if you wanna insult nintendo bc it's a huge corp but i DO care if you are constantly accusing things that are not AI of looking like AI if only bc it's a boring insult

I think I like a lot about this, including a lot of the NPC models. It’s really just the main character models that aren’t sitting right with me. But the original Ocarina of Time was such a formative game for me that it’s impossible for me to look at it without nostalgia goggles.

Sony will probably want to put the Zelda trailer in front of Jumanji this Christmas. But it would be weird to not get a teaser sooner than that, especially since this “title” reveal was clearly just the final seconds of a trailer.

Yes, this. A few nights ago I told my wife (and myself) that I wasn't sure I wanted to boot up Star Wars Zero Company because I didn't have enough time to truly get into it before I needed to sleep. Spoiler: I played it anyway and stayed up way too late as a result.
