I was honored to visit Our Lady Salam, the first Arabic-speaking Lutheran parish on Staten Island. Its congregants hail from as close as Hylan Blvd to as far as Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, & Egypt — yet have planted roots in our city. Many carry the weight of war and genocide daily.

I did my senior sociology thesis on the Chargers looking for a new stadium and it was Enlightening. Especially as I ended up working with a group trying to make a stadium happen and seeing just how little the Spanos family actually wanted to play ball

Also my two oldest sisters were each born on Thanksgiving exactly one year apart. Literally my mom had just put Thanksgiving dinner on the table and then immediately went into labour with my middle sister. Her reaction was something to the effect of “oh GODDAMMIT”
