Saw the first episode. Just her speaking high school French and looking beautifully dressed in cafes. Quite a bit of French life and culture she's still got time to search for, I'd say.

Then the ECJ will strike this down. They have no choice about complying with EU law. End of. What’s sad is the unnecessary delay and suffering this causes, and the culture wars cost to the more liberal current Polish government.

I think perhaps it was more to do with the kind of music they made and the kind of fans they cultivated. Though Manilow started in the gay bathhouses of San Francisco he went very middle of the road.

It’s really outrageous, and to think even the Tories were better for trans people is a measure of how awful this government is.

120

Gayne_austen (he, him) @brianson.bsky.social · 06/05/2026

It’s generational. I had no idea how widely ‘gay’ was used as an insult or simply a synonym for something wrong/distasteful until a younger person pointed it out to me. For me ‘gay’ was and is a mark of pride and a positive even bold claim of identity. For context I was born in 1969.

@theguyliner.bsky.social calls the book ‘a fun, fearless reimagining of an iconic romance, brought bang up to date. It holds on to all the charm and bite of its inspiration, yet offers a take on love and life’s prejudices that’s all its own.’

My stablemate Max Austin’s new book is out today! It’s a great way to explore how our LGBTQ+ lives shape and are shaped by social change, and feels like a pint in your local with your mates. Brassy, comforting, and emotionally resonant. I hope you enjoy it.

I think he has a point, one that gets ramped up hysterically by the far right just as he says to foster resentment. It’s why we must remember intersectionality. A poor cis straight white guy has loads of privilege compared with poor gay black guys but a lot less than their rich equivalents.
