Solar Energy UK: According to Government figures, for England alone, 55,773 new homes were built with solar panels fitted in the first half of this year – 58% of the 98,222 newly built in that period. In 2021 the figure was just 16% for newbuilds in England.

More rooftop solar energy systems have been installed so far this year in the UK than all of 2011, which held the record for 15 years 207,619 roof solar installations recorded so far this year, exceeding the 203,697 in 2011. Last year it was 269,195, set to be smashed again. Over 300k looks likely.

I'm a recent immigrant to West Yorkshire & there's a garden full of dahlias here too. Lovely to see the bright colours as everything else is increasingly brown

It's a universal truth that if your smoke alarm battery is going to flatten to the point of triggering those high pitched pips, it will occur between the hours of 1 & 4 am

#PalacesAndGardens #MellowYellow The morning fog and sun create a magical yellow glow on my morning hike through the hills. #ECK #Hiking #MorningGlow #LandscapePhotography #Photography #WestCoastKin
The morning sun sits low in the sky, shining through light fog and clouds, creating a golden glow over the land. The view is from trail on a hill, looking down at the fog settled in the valleys and the grass covered with dew. Low-lying shrubs are in the foreground while further away, trees poke above the fog. I've been a live-in carer to my elderly parents the past few days. It's been exhausting. Kudos to those doing this year-round. It's physically & emotionally draining

How lovely to see some colour! I feel the predominant colour is my garden is brown. Looks more like autumn with all the dropped leaves 😕

I saw that. It was grotesque. Made me so angry that's how they made their millions! It's obvious based on how little staff are paid where the money goes

I knew the #rain would arrive this weekend weeks ago. Not because I'm a meteorologist but because the scaffolding went up yesterday for #solar panel installation next week! #climatechange #greenenergy #renewables
View from an upstairs house window into a back garden. There is blue sky and a tall hedge with scaffolding visible against the house. There is a succulent in a pot on the windowsill.

Being from Birmingham and now living in Liverpool. I have always said it’s the lack of want/need to shout about itself. Birmingham doesn’t have a rivalry with anyone else whereas Liverpool and Manchester are close enough and both big enough to shout about themselves. Brummies are just too chill imo

Small point but the fact the NEC isn't near the centre doesnt help. Most delegates exhibitors who go the NEC don't go into Brum so never experience it, where as Manchester central expos are in the Centre!

What I would say is that when I was in Government dealing with multi agencies it was clear Manchester worked. Whatever about size/culture there was a relationship between relevant agencies. In Birmingham it was extremely fractured, with a great lack of common purpose.

The utterly glorious porch roof at St John the Baptist, Burford. Anyone who uses 'medieval' as a pejorative should be made to look at this until they promise never to do it again. Photo taken lying on my back shuffling around the floor until I was happy with the framing.

It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23
Telegraph headiline:

"Heatwave hysterics wouldn't have lasted a day in 1976", overlaid with a bold “MONK DEBUNKED” stamp.

The buck is seen in profile, standing in a field of tall grass during a very misty sunrise. The thick fog diffuses the intense golden light, creating a dreamy and atmospheric scene where only the outline of the deer and the surrounding reeds are visible. A
