Thrilled to announce that my photograph ‘The Long Shadow’ has won 3rd place in the Aerial Category of the Minimalist Photography Awards. This was captured from my drone during the most glorious sunrise at a spot close to home. Mist, light and shadow combined together in a way that was so magical.

Watching these sun beams form as the fog and sunrise combined was truly one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen. Made better that it was with the ancient trees of the infamous Fanal Forest in Madeira. A moment I’ll never forget.

This was so incredibly special to see. It’s called a corona, where sunlight shines through cloud, diffracting into rings of iridescent colours when certain conditions are met. Lucky for me, this was in one of the most beautiful ancient forests in the world - Fanal, Madeira.
