Between 2025 and August 2026, the Trump administration deported over 25,000 people to countries other than their country of origin. Very few of these removals were publicly announced by the US. The Deportation Project tracked them. forbiddenstories.org/the-deportat...

They cleaned up ground zero. Now many are hiding from ICE
After 9/11, thousands of rescue and cleanup crews went to work at ground zero. They were exposed to toxic debris and experienced psychological trauma. Today, many say they live in fear of deportation.

The very people who accuse others of "staying silent" are SILENT THEMSELVES ON 1000 issues a day which is NORMAL because you are ONE PERSON & simply cannot have takes on every single thing.

Myanmar IDPs -- here's a little update on some support we gathered and sent to displaced communities in Karenni. The gist is a subsidized grocery store, so families who have lost so much can have the pleasure of choosing + buying things without depleting their savings. #whatshappeninginMyanmar

Devastating read about the current state of independent media in #Myanmar. Reporters are working side jobs or running food stalls in order to support the media work they believe in. Funding cuts have dealt a terrible blow to these professionals. reutersinstitute.politics.ox.ac.uk/news/running...

Running a news site from a food stall: How Myanmar’s exiled media is fighting to survive a brutal funding crisis
As international funding dries up, journalists are driving taxis and selling food just to keep documenting the country’s civil war.

The President of the USA declaring that "a whole civilisation will die tonight" is not something that arrives out of a vacuum. It is precipitated by the widespread international failure to hold USA, Israel, and their allies including the UK, accountable for their actions for many decades

I have always hated the TACO stuff. There are so many ways to mock this man. Taunting him about not following through on his violent, destructive whims is not helpful to us. Thank god he doesn't always follow through, and may this be one of those times.

my entire timeline on x is now just iranian embassies demonstrating a facility with the english language that puts everything i've ever read from the trump administration to shame
The Iranian embassy in Iran quote tweets Trump's insane 'Fuckin Strait tweet with the comment:

"This low level of civility and intelligence shown by a leader of a country is regrettable; the shameful fervor with which intentions to commit war crimes are repeated is staggering; and the fact that the Divine is invoked regardless of ill intentions clearly exposes deep fanaticism. Apologies for sharing this language."

Trump's tweet reads: "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

I know that many people are rightfully shaken by how bad it's getting. I know that many of the same people have failed to recognize how bad things have been. And I do wonder if we're just going to return to the silence of the killings of people who don't matter.

Once again: Focusing on their lack of training is a mistake. With "better training," their violence would simply cost more, and they would still kill whoever they wanted, but make it look more professional — to make people more comfortable, the way many of you are at ease with local police violence.

The lack of professionalism on the part of people who claim to advocate for marginalized communities is really driving me over the edge these days. I help manage a social enterprise, and we run as a business, without any grant funding--we've been able to run profitably from Day 1.

A few years ago, I warned that we were entering a Second Nadir. Some deemed that hyperbolic. Most had never heard of the first one. The Nadir was a term coined by historian Rayford Logan to talk about the period when Black Americans lost the rights they had just gained following slavery.

We can’t defeat fascism in the US without defeating US imperialism abroad. The liberal resistance to Trump must understand the connection between fascism at home and US violence abroad—including support for the genocidal, fascist and extraordinarily belligerent Israeli regime. No kings means no war.

I'm going to start switching the words "politics" and "political" for the word "freedom" to test my right-leaning ppl. Those who decry "politics" as dirty also love to wax on about their freedom. But when you get down to it "politics" is all about different freedoms, who gets them, and who doesn't.

I'm one of the many, many people who had a job/project suspended this week by order of the Trump administration. This order impacts so many vulnerable people who will have basic things like food, and lifesaving medicine ripped away with no notice. And this is a wasteful way to go about it!

I can't process how cruel this is. USAID has plenty of problems but this is money that is already committed under contracts, in many cases for basic needs for very vulnerable people. Food, education, health care.
