Such a great article on interoceptive awareness, and how the brain constantly listens to the bodily signals like heart rate, breathing, gut functions etc and understanding how these signals arrive in the 🧠 is an important research area! www.technologyreview.com/2026/06/12/1...

Inside interoception: The hidden sense of how you feel inside
Researchers are decoding how signals move between body and brain, with implications for how we understand and treat conditions from obesity to anxiety.

Scientifically, yoga trains self-regulation through breath, attention, interoception, emotional balance, and body awareness. Yoga has given me so much, and I am deeply thankful for its presence in my daily life. 🙏✨

The Sanskrit root yuj means to yoke, join, or unite: body with mind, breath with awareness, action with intention, and the individual self with something larger.

Happy International Yoga Day. Yoga is often seen as stretching, flexibility, or posture. But in its deeper meaning, yoga is a path of integration, wholeness, and awareness.

Thank you Wendy Suzuki for bringing such connection, joy, and flow to our @sinaibrain.bsky.social retreat this year. Sometimes what scientists need most is to get out of our heads and back into the body. The smiles say it all. 🙏✨

Metabolically, the 🧠 uses the most energy than any organ from foods we eat and oxygen we breathe to regulate stress, emotions, or any cognitive function. So how can nutritional aspects and breathing practices not be key to holistic health, healing and longevity?

Understanding of the fight, flight, freeze response is evolving from a stress response to neuro-metabolic state. The 🧠 detects threat and allows response. Body reallocates energy to mobilize energy/conserve. The vagus nerve signals from the body to the brain for recovery+ restore balance.

So how can we bring coherence in lifestyle, disease prevention and holistic health through modern+ancient wisdom rather than just fixing one part at a time? 🤔

Modern science shows systems/parts and ancient wisdom shows balance across awareness-mind-body-energy. Both point wellness is coherence of physical, mental, environmental, spiritual, social.

Aren’t scientists naturally philosophers first? Science often begins with wonder and questions about life, mind, matter, and meaning. But somewhere along the way, curiosity gets replaced by a race for publications, funding, titles, and survival. How can we stay connected to that same wonder?

Why is understanding who we are through yoga, contemplation, awareness, meditation practices dismissed as philosophy, spirituality, subjectivity, or pseudoscience when science depends on the one who asks the questions? These practices allow to move from fragmentation to wholeness! 🙏✨

Duality is part of life! For every bad person, there is a good person; for every evil, there is goodness. The question is where we place our non-dualistic awareness? In outrage, numbness, despair or in actions grounded in truth, non-harm, conscience and humanity itself? 🙏

Unchecked desire for power, status, money, control on full display as endless pit, a hedonic treadmill. Chasing, never arriving! Fulfilled desire=greed; Unfulfilled= anger/resentment. Yoga wisdom: desires are transient ripples in awareness and redirecting toward deeper Self-knowledge instead!

How much are our hearts craving peace in this time/moment? The monks walking for peace are following Buddha’s path (≠ religion). When humanity seems to be lost, this is quite a contrast reminder of peace, clarity, compassion, non-harm within ourselves and others as a choice! 🙏

Human consciousness intertwines awareness and self-recognition, diverging in meaning among neuroscientists and philosophers. It encompasses states like wakefulness, sleep, and alertness, influenced by physiological processes. The exploration of consciousness includes understanding sleep's restorative functions and self-awareness's role in interactions, highlighting the balance between scientific and moral aspects of human experience.

A sex-specific brake on liver oestrogen signalling
Nature Metabolism, Published online: 05 January 2026; doi:10.1038/s42255-025-01427-2Sex profoundly shapes liver metabolism, with oestrogens conferring protection against metabolic liver disease. In this study, Yang, Wang and colleagues identify the orphan G protein-coupled receptor GPR110 as a liver-specific brake on oestrogen signalling, bridging GPCR and nuclear receptor pathways, thus pointing to GPR110 as a target for sex-specific therapy in liver disease.
