This is the coolest I have ever looked (caption courtesy of @vexcorvine.itch.io)
Photo of a redheaded toddler in a pastel pinkish-purple coat with the hood pulled up. She is drowning in a giant pile of brown leaves, so that only her head is visible and has the expression of a monarch asserting her divine right to rule. Caption reads “if you wish you were me right now don’t worry, it’s natural.”

Hello, new followers! I'm Stellan. I'm supposed to be a writer, and I usually am. Except when I'm a fiber artist, cosplayer, general physical media artist, or doing one of my other hobbies. But I do write horror and my current project is actually a romance-ish story. Happy to have you! More below:

And I think that’s part of the perception problem too — you get some 60s music on oldies stations, but it’s also common to hear music from the 60s alongside decades of later music on classic rock channels, while 30s-40s music is too old to be considered oldies. It’s a separate category of old.

I used to have this problem a lot with this specific example, because my dad (only 61) loves The Who’s music, and until I watched some documentaries and old TV to get mental images of The Who in the 60s ingrained in my brain, I had trouble remembering how far back they actually go.

Day 1 - Joanna Baillie – Night Tales of Other Times (1790) Being the very normal person that I am, I can't help think that parties would be a lot more fun if everyone came prepared to tell/recite/share a story or poem, and this would definitely be one that I'd learn for my repertoire. #AScareADay

Issue 3: Ekphrasis
Between October 17 and November 17, guest editor Zachary Gillan will accept submissions of weird flash fiction that features ekphrasis.
Ekphrasis is the verbal representation of a work of visual art.
Weird fiction is a verbal representation of the world, in order to unsettle it.
We want stories that live at the intersection of the two. Pieces that emphasize the eerie power of weird art, whether fully ekphrastic or embedded within a traditional narrative. How does the weird seep in as reality is doubly estranged from these two layers of representation? Cursed paintings, uncanny statues, haunted mezzotints-send us your stories of weird art.

So yeah, not all men. But the point is that I don’t need to be told that. I’ve known and I know good boys and men. And the thing they’ve all had in common is not what they say about themselves — it’s what they do when something needs done, even when they have to go out of their way to do it. End 🧵

B. Rae “Rusty” Grosz @braegrosz.com · 30/09/2026
I could’ve been trading one problem for two, but I got lucky. Two good boys paid attention, saw something was off, and stepped in. Even though I was a stranger. Even though the situation probably didn’t look like a big deal. Even though it must’ve been an inconvenient interruption to their night.

I let them walk me part of the way home — far enough to be sure the man isn’t following, far enough to be sure I will physically be able to make it the whole way without my back giving out. They’re perfect gentlemen and when I say I’m good to go on alone, they say good night and that’s that.
170
B. Rae “Rusty” Grosz @braegrosz.com · 30/09/2026
The boy glances back at his friend, and then it’s almost like they’ve trained for this. One approaches the man and distracts him enough that I can pull my hands free. He says a few words to the man that I don’t hear, while the other one introduces himself and asks me what I’d like them to do next.
150
B. Rae “Rusty” Grosz @braegrosz.com · 30/09/2026
I look at them. Stare them down, really. The man looks over his shoulder. The boys slow their pace. Still holding my hands, the man slurs, “How lucky am I to have such a pretty girl?” Like we’re a couple. The closer boy looks at the man, looks at me, then asks, “Are you okay?” I shake my head no.

B. Rae “Rusty” Grosz @braegrosz.com · 30/09/2026
I glance to check how long until the bus comes, and now it says twenty-five fucking minutes. Fuck, shit, damnit, fuck. A group of people come out of a bar, chat a bit, then scatter in different directions. Two — technically men but young enough that I see them as boys — come toward the bus stop.
130
B. Rae “Rusty” Grosz @braegrosz.com · 30/09/2026
I could shout out, but I don’t know this man. I don’t know what makes him angry. I don’t know what he does when he’s angry. Right now, he’s not angry. So, I keep smiling and nodding and deflecting his invitations by asking him questions like I’m trying to get to know him. Stalling.
130
B. Rae “Rusty” Grosz @braegrosz.com · 30/09/2026
What if he follows me off the bus? He’s holding both of my hands now, so I can’t get to my phone or keys. He’s drunk enough that a good kick in the shins might take him out completely, but can I manage a good enough kick? Some people come out of a nearby bar, but they walk the wrong direction.
130
B. Rae “Rusty” Grosz @braegrosz.com · 30/09/2026
He’s just holding my hand. Harmless, I tell myself. I can handle twenty minutes of (absolutely fucking unwanted) handholding until the bus shows up. But he’s also trying to persuade me to come back to his place. How long before he gets upset that I won’t say yes? What if he follows me on to the bus?
130
B. Rae “Rusty” Grosz @braegrosz.com · 30/09/2026
So, there I am, able to stand and to walk thanks to pain meds but in no condition to make a quick getaway. The bus won’t be there for twenty minutes. And this man, who smells like an alcohol I don’t drink because it automatically triggers my gag reflex, is cornering me and taking hold of my hand.

B. Rae “Rusty” Grosz @braegrosz.com · 30/09/2026
🧵CW: harassment I’m waiting at a bus stop. Alone. At night. A man comes up to me, reeking of whisky and trying to flirt. Under normal circumstances, I’d opt to walk home before he gets too close and exit stage right, right quick. But this night, I’m recovering from an episode of severe back spasms.
