Juniors have it hard these days. Between the pressure to use AI, the constant barrage of "You need to learn this", and the economic pressure of late stage capitalism. I feel for them. Burn out is a real occupational hazard.

"There’s no way to know what an AI agent is doing. Not in the sense of knowing exactly the steps the agent took to complete a task, or to reach a failing state. There’s no backtrace, no information about why something didn’t work." apichangelog.substack.com/p/why-ai-age...

Why AI Agents Need Standard Observability
How do you debug an AI agent that behaves differently every time it runs the same task?

Builders can be useful but oh my word, people use them in the strangest ways. .build() should be the most interesting thing it does.

The weirdest part of this map is the Netherlands has zero cities over a million people despite a population over 18million people in an area roughly the size of Nova Scotia.

The structure of this leaves something to be desired. What happens with agents over time. Agent writes code. Code gets messier. Next agent works on it. Next agent adds more mess. Complexity compounds. This isn't how real software works.

Also theres no control for a messy but agent friendly codebase.

The methodology here is suspect too. Implementing rules from SonarQube with agents and then turning fresh agents onto those problems seems like it is biased towards better results.

You got me on housing but I'd push back on car sprawl. The cities that are the most car centric here are still far better planned than most countries. Places like almere or lelystad have great public transit. Even Zeeland is relatively easy to get around without a vehicle.

If you want to make the world a better place, you (yes, you!) are going to need to sacrifice a little sometimes. You’re going to need to pay taxes, you’re going to need to turn the A/C down you’re going to need to be a little less comfortable sometimes. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying to you.

The atmosphere feels more and more like IM in the early 2000s with social layered on top. I can post my status, what I'm listening to, or chat with people. Is there an interesting it uniquely provides? Any apps that couldn't exist anywhere else. I am aware of the interop, it is a big plus.

We were invited to share recommendations with the Office of Minister Miller on online safety legislation in Canada. It's a nuanced topic, and if the internet has taught us anything, it’s that simple “fixes” can have very real unintended consequences. Some thoughts + our submission below. 1/10
