I’ve just launched a big new feature in Kuri and emailed users about it. The reception is much (much!) better than I anticipated! I did some live demos and the reactions were also surprisingly great. Now, let’s hope it improves my ranking because it’s getting murdered right now ☹️

“Search the Way you Talk” in the App Store 👀 Curious what it means under the hood… #ASO #AppStore

Since a few weeks, I very frequently can’t access the App Store. Anyone else experiencing this recently? I’m on iOS 18.1.1

*Übermutofengriffverbrennungsschmerz (noun)* The uniquely painful yet humbling experience of confidently grabbing something straight out of the oven without proper protection, driven by a momentary lapse in judgment or an inflated sense of one’s heat tolerance.

Has anyone gotten rid of flying anxiety? Hypnosis maybe? 4 years of flying anxiety + weekly dreams involving flying 😖 All this triggered by one flight in a storm back in 2021.

Obsessed with SwiftUI + metal shaders 😍 A continuation of our work with @frboulais.bsky.social to bring TCG-like seasonal produce cards.

Every time I'm making an update on the App Store I have to setup the "What's new" for each language. The UX is terrible, you have press a dropdown and change the language to copy-paste it in a new input. The developer in me won and I've created a Firefox extension to handle this 🔥 #buildinpublic

No better feeling for an indie developer than reading this kind of messages 🥹 Meal planning may not be for everyone, but the benefits are huge if you decide to plan ahead.

An email sent by a user of my cooking & meal planning app named Kuri. This person shares how planning their meals and groceries has made them much more relaxed.

Whoever decided that cell content should align bottom by default Excel/Spreadsheet is an absolute PSYCHOPATH

A cell in Google Spreadsheet where its content is aligned bottom left by default. This is criminal.

For new followers, thought I'd reintroduce my work from the sustainability angle: Kuri (iOS) is a seasonal, carbon footprint-aware cooking app. *What does that mean?* Every recipe comes with localized seasonality data + and carbon footprint info. Can fluctuate every month with seasonality. 1/4

An infographic with a sustainability rating labeled 'Very Good' in bold green text. It highlights attributes such as 'Low Emissions,' 'In Season,' and 'Plant Based.' A horizontal bar shows the carbon footprint equivalent, ranging from 0 km to 8+ km of car ride. The bar is mostly green, indicating low emissions. Below, text reads: 'If you ate like this every day, you'd mitigate 1.64 metric tons of CO2e per year, compared to average.'

A vibrant bowl of 'Palak Chana' curry featuring spinach and chickpeas in a rich red-brown sauce, garnished with fresh cilantro leaves. The bowl sits on a white background with a sprig of fresh cilantro and a slice of lemon placed artistically next to it. Text at the top reads: 'Palak Chana Curry w/ Spinach & Chickpea.' At the bottom, icons include a globe symbolizing sustainability and a heart for favoriting, with the label 'Comfort Food.'

Bluesky right now is incredible for Apple / iOS developers. You get to interact with legends of the space and newcomers alike in a very healthy and uncrowded environment. Just the right amount of activity without the drama.

Legit considering building a TCG game featuring seasonal produce 🤔 "i just pulled an insane secret rare holo eggplant", I could totally see it. @kevinespiritu.bsky.social let's do it? 👉👈 @frboulais.bsky.social you could do some sick metal shaders to create the holos 🥹

I'm a bit confused about what App Store Version we're talking about here. Is it the "Last Seen App Version" (as seen on Customer Details) aka the build version, or is it, well, the App Store App version? @revenuecat.com

Can't recommend this new essay by @mbolotnikova on Thanksgiving highly enough: "We will collectively eat more than 40 million [factory-farmed] turkeys... And we will do it all even though turkey meat is widely considered flavorless and unpalatable." www.vox.com/future-perfe...

vox.com

8 million turkeys will be thrown in the trash this Thanksgiving

We don’t have to accept all that death and waste for a dry, flavorless bird no one likes.

"It is easier for climate researchers to engage [...] in climate advocacy [...] it may also be expected of them professionally", while "lifestyle changes [...] are more difficult to implement and require more sustained effort than many of the civic actions". A bit of posturing isn't it? 😏

As I come back to Bluesky, I’d like to gift a few lifetime subscriptions to my app, Kuri, to people interested in climate-friendly food solutions. Let me know if you’d like one!
