I sympathize with Acharya's argument, but I'd just add that juxtaposing ancient Indian humanitarian values with Geneva Conventions, as if latter exclusively Western, is an intellectual own goal - see my forthcoming book, IHL features formative contributions & concepts propelled by the South & East.
