My hand is holding up a copy of Guardians of teh new moon: Ming and Miaow's great race, written by Eric Huang, illustrated by Phùng Nguyên Quang. The illustration shows a kid with fox-red fire in her hair that implies she might not be fully human. By her side runs a grumpy looking black and white cat. Behind the is a long blue dragon with big eyebrows and at their feet runs a little....I think it's a mouse but it might be some other rodenty critter.

My next Scottish kids books for #BookWeekScotland are the absolute modern classic A Kind of Spark and it’s wonderful prequel Keedie by @ellemcnicoll.bsky.social. Addie and Keedie’s stories feel both all consuming and essential. And they have helped make real change in whose stories we get to hear.
