yeah no I do understand why it is. But that it even got to this point is absolutely ridiculous, people cannot be normal about anything anymore

it's St. Wencelas Day on Monday which is a national holiday here so I'm getting a three day weekend for my birthday. tomorrow is my actual birthday and we're dressing up as fantasy characters and going to a medieval castle tavern to celebrate. and next Friday I'm going on a road trip to Poland!

I've read a couple of books recently that I had been DYING to read and expected to become absolutely obsessed with and while I did end up liking them, they just weren't *it* for me. And idk why that is, maybe I've just changed I guess

Today I thrifted the perfect flannel shirt jacket for my upcoming Germany/Liechtenstein trip and then I drove through the slowly changing, early Autumnal trees while listening to Golden Brown. Stunning vibes

2 recent book recs: The Executioners Three (perfect for the beginning of the spooky season, MC is like if Mabel Pines were in high school in Gravity Falls and was trying to solve spooky serial murders) and Theodora's Tea Shop (1920's-aesthetic fantasy about magic, demons and familial trauma)

honestly this series has a way of finding you when you need it I feel like! I see so much of myself in Andrew, especially younger me, andit has been a big part of my coming to terms with some things from my past I can't change but can now move past in a way. I need to properly cosplay him again!

I'm still looking for mods to make him look more unsettling but this is Corvus, my oathbreaker paladin evil durge BG3 character. based on my evil DnD campaing char (who is an aasimar death cleric canonically but I thought an oathbreaker would work nicely in the game narratively idk)

yeah no absolutely! life is so random in so many ways, and climate change is absolutely universal. and it feels like it's going so fast too, because the weather here (and we're as landlocked as it gets) has changed considerably over the past like 15-20 years, which is a blink of an eye, historically

ℌ𝔢𝔫𝔯𝔶 🫀🗡️🥀 @boringsideeffect.bsky.social · 22/07/2026

doom 😭 but yeah now it's the threat of international conflict, the rise of totalitarian thinking in a lot of countries, AND the environmental doom. which is a lot 😭

tbh my parents' generation was living under totalitarian rule their whole youth and young adulthood, my grandparents' generation were little during WWII and adults during the totalitarian rule and also cold war, and the generation before that lived through WWI. I'm afraid there always some impending

010

ℌ𝔢𝔫𝔯𝔶 🫀🗡️🥀 @boringsideeffect.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

seeing how people treat complex and interesting fictional characters nowadays? it'll be a mess I'm afraid 😭

010

ℌ𝔢𝔫𝔯𝔶 🫀🗡️🥀 @boringsideeffect.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

I'm not even a DR reader btw so I literally don't have any personal horse in this race. I just can't with people trying to normalise unhealthy relationships with fiction

120

ℌ𝔢𝔫𝔯𝔶 🫀🗡️🥀 @boringsideeffect.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

by all means write your Good Clean Fun TM romance in which nothing bad ever happens and everyone is nice and good, but do not position it morally above the rest. reading what is essentially Disney fairy tales does not make you morally superior than people reading dark romance. fiction is not reality

ℌ𝔢𝔫𝔯𝔶 🫀🗡️🥀 @boringsideeffect.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

onto this one particular character HEAVILY, in dare I say an unhealthy way. I feel like the first trilogy has more normal fans but this second one seems to catch the most unhinged strays
