I'm particularly excited about our findings that go beyond descriptive marker expression by functionally testing astrocyte antigen-dependent T cell responses and their downstream effects. Looking forward to seeing the evolution of this study, and I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

-Human iPSC-derived astrocytes similarly upregulate antigen-presentation-associated machinery following inflammatory stimulation, suggesting these responses are conserved across species.

-In vitro, cytokine-stimulated astrocytes express MHC-II, costimulatory molecules, and T cell-recruiting chemokines, and can support antigen-dependent restimulation and expansion of previously activated CD4+ T cells.

-MHC-II⁺ astrocytes emerge at neuroimmune interfaces across multiple mouse models of neuroinflammation (sepsis, EAE, infection) and are also present in human neurological disease tissue (MS, AD).

Some of our key findings: -We identified an interferon-responsive astrocyte population enriched for antigen-presentation genes following peripheral immune challenge.

I'm excited to share our latest preprint from the Liddelow lab! We show that specific cytokines can induce astrocytes to present antigens to CD4+ T cells. More proof that astrocytes can actively shape adaptive immune responses during neuroinflammation. @liddelowsa.bsky.social lnkd.in/gjteXwFu

IFNγ and proinflammatory cytokines cooperatively license astrocytes to support antigen-dependent CD4+ T cell restimulation
We report that type 2 interferon with proinflammatory cytokines induces astrocytes to express multiple components required for attraction of and antigen presentation to CD4+ T cells via MHC-II molecul...

I just reached out to my senators about the NIH situation. If you need to find out how much impact NIH has in your state in terms of dollars in and their economic impact here's a link: www.unitedformedicalresearch.org/nih-in-your-...

The antidote for despair is action ❤️ * Dial (202) 224-3121 * Enter zip code * Leave voicemail * Say “My name is ___, I’m a constituent in [town]. (If clinician/scientist, say so) “The NIH freeze harms research and patients and must be lifted immediately.” Be brief. Staffers tally all calls. Go! ✅

Big day for single cell and neuroscience. Trio of single cell perspective pieces discussing applications, opportunities, challenges, and validation of single cell and spatial genomics in neuroscience are out now in Nature Neuroscience. Links in thread below.👇 1/n

This is especially relevant given reactive astrocyte localization and abundance! Thanks for pointing out
