I read every day. And there were books in every room of my house except the bathrooms (humidity is so bad for books!) until I had to pack them up for an upcoming move.

In which I review... a fountain pen. bookwyrmshoard.com/pen-ink/foun...
A photo of an open A-5 lined journal, with two Jinhao 82 fountain pens lying on the right-hand page. Both have acrylic or resin bodies and gold-look trim. One pen is peacock blue with sparkles; the cap is closed. The other has an aqua-blue barrel; the cap, finial, and grip sections are a soft rosy pink. That pen is uncapped, with the cap lying to its right. The journal shows two ink tests at the top of the page. One reads "Jinhao 82 – Fine nib – Diamine Ultra Green [ink]" written in cursive script, followed on the next line by some squiggles and slanted lines. The second reads "Jinhao 82 – Fine nib – Diamine Celadon Cat [ink]," followed by similar squiggles and lines.

It depends on what you mean by “use.” I have a 400-yo (IIRC) Chinese vase on display, and a cache-pot that’s at least early 19th century, if not late 18th. Actual use? Probably my antique, very large cedar blanket chest, though I don’t know exactly how old it is. It came down in the family.

You know that feeling when the perfect book comes along just when you need it? That was The Reimagining of Thornwood House for me: a book about hope, new beginnings, healing, & finding a home in your new community. It’s wise, beautiful, whimsical, & utterly enchanting. #review bookwyrmshoard.com
Book cover: The Reimagining of Thornwood House by Jaleigh Johnson. The cover art shows a whimsical, somewhat dilapidated Victorian style house standing on two massive tree trunk legs. The porch on the front door are accessible only via a wooden ladder. The house stands in a clearing in a forest. A dark haired woman in a turquoise dress and a young girl in a blue dress stand with their backs to the viewer, gazing up at the house. Above the trees, the sky is bright blue with puffy white clouds. In the foreground, in the lower quarter of the cover, strawberry leaves, blooms, and berries surround the title.

Post graphic. Title text in purple all-caps reads: Books I Hope to Find Under the Tree. Below, a sketch shows a green dragon with yellow belly and wings and purple spines along its backbone, reclining on a purple rug, reading an open book. To the right of the dragon is a stack of books. In the left foreground, and particularly out of the frame, a decorated Christmas tree stands surrounded by wrapped and beribboned gifts. It appears as though SFWA has had a very quick change of heart and is now back on the right side of this. Shouldn't have happened in the first place. New Nebula Awards eligibility rules for generated text are now:
Previous Text:

“Works that are wholly written using generative large language model (LLM) tools are not eligible.”

New Text:

“Works that are written, either wholly or partially, by generative large language model (LLM) tools are not eligible.”

-and-

Previous Text:

“Works that used LLMs at any point during the writing process must disclose this upon acceptance of the nomination, and the nature of the technology’s use will be made clear to voters on the final ballot”

New Text:

“Works that used LLMs at any point during the writing process must disclose this upon acceptance of the nomination, and those works will be disqualified.”

A lovely, warm, cozy sapphic fantasy about kindness, community, and learning to be your true self. Given how much I enjoyed Leong's The Teller of Small Fortunes, I had high hopes for The Keeper of Magical Things, and I was not disappointed! 5 stars. bookwyrmshoard.com/book-reviews...
Book cover: The Keeper of Magical Things, by Julie Leong. The US cover art shows a tall, slender young woman with a platinum-blonde braid standing beside a shorter, plumper young woman with short brown hair. Both are wearing long robes in shades of pink and peach, and the blonde has a grey cloak over her shoulders with the hood down. The women are standing in the open gap of a wooden fence festooned with vines. They are turned slightly toward each other. An open wooden chest lies on the grass, which is dotted with lupins and other pink and purple wildflowers. Beyond the opening in the fence, a bucolic rural landscape of farms, fields, and a small cluster of houses stretches toward the hills, bathed in the glow of a sunset beyond the mountains. A small black cat with bat wings hovers above the women.
