Jan @swimmingjan.bsky.social · 28/09/2026@lbflyawayhome.bsky.social Haven you seen the latest Shaun the Sherp movie. Shaun gets a lot of his ideas in the movie from what looks suspiciously like a Ladybird Science book! 000

Reposted by JanHistory and Heritage Yorkshire @handhyorkshire.bsky.social · 25/09/2026There is a tendency to talk about people who receive support from the state as though they are somehow a completely different group from the rest of us: ‘taxpayers’ over here and ‘benefit claimants’ over there. Jan @swimmingjan.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Went to see De Gaulle Victoire yesterday. It was so engrossing despite being 2.5 hours long. A perspective of the war I didn’t know about. My grandmother ended up in a lift with General De Gaulle when he visited Liverpool. 000
Jan @swimmingjan.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Just seen Pressure with Andrew Scott. Engrossing film, covered a complex subject of meteorology as best could be done in this context. Minor criticisms, it was meant to be June but obviously filmed in Autumn, it seemed to be US soldiers only who invaded France don’t know where the 🇬🇧or 🇨🇦 were. 000

Jan @swimmingjan.bsky.social · 29/04/2026I’m afraid I didn’t really enjoy this book by Agatha Christie. It set up a good mystery but the conclusion dragged on and I was getting a bit bored by it. I really enjoy a lot of her other books. It reminded me why I love Dorothy L Sayers books. 000
