Great moments in Scottish engineering history: James Watt tries to work out how his phone attaches to his selfie stick.
Statue of James Watt. In his right hand he holds a telescopic stick with a frame at the top; in his left he holds a flat object about the size of a large smartphone. He is scowling at the possibly-not-a-smartphone as if he is tempted to yeet it into the sea. On that basis, it probably _is_ a phone.

"Saturday Poem
By Robin Robertson

Donegal (for Ellie)

Ardent on the beach at Rossnowlagh
on the last day of summer,
you ran through the shallows
throwing off shoes, and shirt and towel
like the seasons, the city's years,
all caught in my arms
as I ploughed on behind you, guardian still
of dry clothes, of this little heart
not quite thirteen,
breasting the waves
and calling back to me
to join you, swimming in the Atlantic
on the last day of summer.
I saw a man in the shallows
with his hands full of clothes, full of
all the years,
and his daughter going
where he knew he could not follow."

A page from a collage scrapbook. On the left of the page, rotated to the left, is page from what is probably a spoof magazine. It is headed "9 - BOY'S FUN - FRIDAY 13th AUGUST 1944". There is a picture headed "future facts no : 73" in a handwriting font over a blue sky over a city on Mars with a man with a propellor helmet holding a cup of tea, space rockets and an alien. At the bottom there is text saying "PREDIKTOR SAYS --- BY 1965, MAN WILL HOLIDAY ON MARS". At the top of the book page is the headline "MAGNETIC FIELDS" in black on shite. Under this upside down is a stark posterized photograph of a woman in an Hijab standing in front of an identity parade height gauge. Over this in black is the text list "NEIGHBOR, SISTER, EMPLOYEE, DAUGHTER, VOLUNTEER, PEACE LOVER". Under this rotated to the right, is an Israeli flag with the side of the two blue lines turning to roots. Under this, rotated to the left, is a black-and-white portrait photograph of a man with straggly black hair. Under this, rotated to the left is a black-and-white photograph of an acoustic guitar lying on the floor.A page from a collage scrapbook. At the left, rotated to the left, is a cartoon line drawing which seeks to describe the life and appearance of a man called Bobby Dean. To the right is a large image of him, shirtless with his arms folded. He is bald and wears sunglasses. Behind him is a small terraced house with a side garage. An image of the same man astride a large motorcycle is in front of the garage door. The space above the house and garage is filled with handwritten details about the life of this man. At the top of the page, written upside down in blue ink is the text "She looks like Eva Marie-Saint in On the Waterfront". Under this on the right, is a small square of handwritten text around a strange line-drawing. This is possibly from an esoteric manuscript. Under this is a tall colour photograph of scaffolding against a coloured sky.
