idk why you're replying to a 1 year+ old tweet of mine. But from that screenshot isn't his point that two wrongs don't make a right and that we should call out all warcrimes, even if the victim of the warcrime has previously aided in warcrimes against you?

Good morning! It’s a perfect day to realize that the politics you’re used to are gone and never coming back so you can either think about what you want the future to look like and try to build toward that or keep trying to wishcast the country back to 1998 and be part of the problem.

I've written to British Transport Police asking for clarity on the specific changes they've made to their policy following the Supreme Court ruling. With EHRC guidance still pending, it's vital we understand how these decisions were made and what they mean in practice.

Sure, I don't disagree the guys a moron, I was just curious whether your take had limits or whether it was an absolute. I haven't read the nuances of Trumps executive order. If it's really just Hamas, it's ironic, but who cares, if its criticism of Israel or similar, however, that's really bad.

Very disappointing to see that my MP has joined the likes of George Galloway in tacitly supporting the rape, murder and ethnic cleansing of Ukrainian civilians. If that money was going to Palestine, you'd rejoice. Rightfully so. Utterly pathetic and unprincipled.

Considering voicing support for terrorist or militant groups like Hamas isn't illegal for the native population as well - it does seem arguably politically partisan even if deserved. (Albeit probably not retroactively).

I'm curious, do you feel like all restrictions on any grounds are justifiable in a Liberal Democracy? What if it's wholly partisan, I.E Trump passes executive order to deport students who voice support for trans people or even Democrats as a whole?

OR, more based in economic reality, a land value tax with bands based on current land use! Wealth taxes inhibit growth, land value tax encourages development and also impacts the wealthiest in society.

Understandably, it was. Europe has had to contend with American social media hegemony hosting Russian disinformation campaigns for a decade - now America has fallen to said disinformation and has become official government policy. America is far worse than Moscow right now.

the russians started the war in ukraine. in 2014. the americans and europeans are complicit in not taking that seriously. for nearly a decade they continued business with russia as usual, acting as if the territorial integrity of a european nation didn’t need to be defended.

But on all measurable accounts the US economy is good? The only thing uncharacteristically high is the national debt but that's hardly a signifier of the strength of the economy both as a whole and for individual Americans?

Carrying on managed decline and the tory status quo is not accelerationism. Accelerationism is taking a sledge hammer to the status quo like Muskin America. Ripping away all checks & balances to fast track the undermining of democracy. Hate Starmer as much as you want, that's not what he's doing.

I'll be honest, it could be the internet has poisoned my perspective, but I've never once seen a prominent Corbynite celebrate the, albeit few, left wing successes of the current Labour government. Instead its a constant celebration of the governments failure and a desire to see them on their face.

Mr Disco🪩 @boogiebloke.bsky.social · 13/02/2025
What policy has the Labour party introduced that you would consider accelerationist? One could and often rightfully argue that Labour is continuing the Tory legacy of managed decline and maintaining the status quo. I don't see how anyone could argue a lack of ambition is accelerationism though.

There is no vision for fixing the current, even within Liberals. There's only carry on the status quo making concessions to the ever growing right (like Labour) or let it burn and childishly hope we can pick up the peaces and build a utopia.

Mr Disco🪩 @boogiebloke.bsky.social · 12/02/2025
The hard-left are just as much accelerationists as the hard-right. They want liberal democracy to give way to far-right populism and tech-bro technocracy because they believe they'll be able to pick up the pieces post collapse. It's sad but reflects the new political reality we live in.

If tariffs knock us out of this delusional appeasement of Trump as he undermines the liberal world order - then so be it. Just gotta hope the media call a duck a duck and don't try to spin this as somehow Labour's fault for not brown nosing hard enough.

The most frustrating thing about continuing failure to skewer Farage is that his grasp of detail is non-existent. It’s why he gets petulant when exposed to even mildly decent questions. Interviewers just need to zone in on one element of the bullshit & interrogate it until his ignorance is exposed.

The world should unite and isolate you regardless. The American electorate have proven they can not be trusted as the world's superpower. When China is a more reliable ally and less destructive to the West, something is very wrong.

Is this necessarily a bad thing? We're in such uncharted territory right now, we have no idea whether Trump is going to crash and burn or be the first in a long lineage of GOP presidents backed by an extremely partisan SC and likely soon to be civil service. Why risk it 3 weeks in?

Yeah, I fear you're right - there was a time when the "terminally online" left was interested in winning... Now it feels like they only care about the other side losing. I just want a return to a representational middle ground :/

Frankly, if what Owen has written is true, it's a criticism that deserves to be made. But I can't help but assume from his own history, he's not interested in holding power to account and working to improve Labour for all - he's interested in his side winning at any cost.

It was less than a few months ago that Emily Thornberry made very similar criticisms about Corbyn's aids and advisers (albeit in a far less inflammatory). What was the response? Waves of harassment from Corbynites across social media. Where is the demand for engaging in a bipartisan middle ground?
