its nice when people bring up Little Witch Academia but its sad its only as an alternative to HP. Diana Cavendish deserves so much better than to be compared to some shithead neonazi boy

The “restorative justice” convos around Geller l miss the point. Maybe he is/was on that path. But he is owed nothing from us and I have more empathy for victims who found comfort in his work (like myself, I own his fucking book) and now feel betrayed at having emotionally invested in an abuser.

Imagine having such a parasocial attachment to jacob geller that you post a whole ass article on your website you get patreon dollars for to lament the "complexity" of how to proceed and then smile cause someone compared you to bell hooks

Because that is where we really find out if the people helming this understand what truly was so special about oot. What made it more impactful than the other zelda games

Anyhoo. Im mixed. Not big on the character models, but i like a decent amount of the item/enemy/environments. The voice acting sounds rough, but im sure the qol features will be nice. What matters to me is the tone, story, implications

one of nintendos biggest entries and a product of a megacorp. Of course its worthy of scrutiny. Babes, just trust your gut. Cant worry whats going on in the room next door~ you wouldnt want someone harshing you over how to feel.

I have no desire to be bothered by wether people are excited or upset with the oot news. Theres reasonable aspects to criticize or praise and its fine to express it. Its a zelda game of course there will be people excited about it. Its also a remake of

People really underestimated the value of reading programs and the general push for childrens literature in the 90s. But the harry potter hype machine was marketable to news outlets i suppose

Also i dont think "cultural impact" is a good measure of quality. Especially if said impact is like... selling toys and sequels

On the subject with way more interesting answers in his followups (as maligned as bly manor is by the netflix audience i think it was miles ahead of his hill house)

Mister Bonefury @bonefury.bsky.social · 20/07/2026

Ya like and vibe with what ya like. Sometimes things just click. Even as a fan of his hill house i agree that its not interested in the concepts (especially about womanhood) jackson was exploring. And while i liked its meditation on death, i think flannegan was better able to reflect

Mister Bonefury @bonefury.bsky.social · 20/07/2026

In retrospect it is weird how his hill house is such a loose homage off a singular work of shirleys rather than something that pulls from across her works like bly and usher did for their inspirations. But perhaps the witch, the lottery, etc would have been too much to include

Mister Bonefury @bonefury.bsky.social · 20/07/2026

Such a wildly different beast with different goals I wouldnt even have considered. The 63 version is pretty faithful and a good movie on its own. But I think even when the goals of two media allign, outdoing shirley jackson at being shirley jackson just aint gonna happen.

Otherwise I think like most cases, a good adaption just does whats strongest for its medium. The changes make sense for JP, but the book has its own vibe and strong points I wouldnt ever call the film better. Tho maybe people just didnt feel the same awe i did at the books population talk
