some Japanese guy on Twitter got really ticked off getting talked down to by a foreigner about how sophisticated their respective tastes in manga is and he made this image and it is so fucking funny how they completely clocked the English-speaking Serious Manga Guy Online canon lol

WEST OTAKU, represented by a white irasutoya man: "I have better taste in manga than Japanese otaku do, and I know more about it too!" Their favorite manga are Berserk, Vagabond, and Vinland Saga

JP OTAKU, represented by a Japanese irasutoya man: "This is the manga Japanese otaku actually read." His favorite manga are Souten kouro, Oishinbo, Phoenix, Black Jack ni yoroshiku, Tokyo daigaku monogatari, Jisenshuu kishimojin, Nejishiki, JIN, Orb: On the Movement of Earth, Human Crossing

* Of course, they also read Berserk, Vagabond, and Vinland Saga

For those wondering where all the colors went in modern movies, they're actually all in the Mononoke The Movie trilogy. Wrote about some of the most exciting filmmaking Netflix has ever platformed: www.avclub.com/mononoke-the...

The trippy Mononoke trilogy is some of the most adventurous filmmaking Netflix has ever platformed

A feminist, period-piece crime anime unfolds over three overwhelmingly psychedelic parts in Netflix's Mononoke The Movie.

Omg thank YOU for reading it! I'm glad you liked it, it makes my day whenever someone enjoys it enough to let me know. Symphogear is such a magical show, but the best part of it is having other people to freak out about it with (which is why I made the panel, and later the site, in the first place)

Let Lara watch Utena! 😂 (I have not finished Lara btw, no spoilers please)

A comic in three panels. First is Lara and Mari from goodbye Lara watching tv. The second is Utena Tenjou saying "Then I will become the prince myself!" on tv. The last is Lara grabbing Mari shocked and yelling Mari! Mari nonchalantly looks at a book and says "I heard".

Thinking about "plus they'll probably have to deal with Godzilla at some point".

"Tried to watch 'Shin Godzilla" on the plane only to realize by the end of the movie that it actually a drama movie called 'Tears for you'. Words can't describe the feeling of watching an incredibly sad movie while constantly thinking: 'Damn... This is depressing. Plus, they'll probably have to deal with Godzilla at some point too...'"

What follows are four screencaps (presumably from "Tears for You"), showing a smiling woman (subtitled "I really love you."), a distant image from above of axwonsn in a white dress (subtitled"Thank you... for raising me."), a short-haired person weeping, and finally, an apprehensive woman (subtitled "living happily.")

Scenes such as this where the light is reflecting on the water are accomplished through a process called "backlighting", "underlighting" or "bipack glow". To create the effect a matte is cut and light is shone through the holes.

Bird of Prey (Samus Aran from Metroid Ravenous)

Digital painting portraying the Nintendo character Samus Aran, from the Metroid series, as a ravenous creature on top of a totem.
Samus, a woman wearing a full futuristic space suit with giant round shoulders and an arm canom, crouches on top of a totem while holding a pink flame with a off-putting bird claw shaped hand. Her arm canom on the other hand oozes a yellow substance. She looks at the camera like she has just noticed us.
