Can we not with the Harry Potter categories on jeopardy?

especially since, being a local band and all, *a lot* of people in town are going to get the reference, know the song, understand what it's about, and probably wonder if you've ever even listened to the song because, again, that is certainly A Choice

010

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

naming your bakery after a song about the wrongful conviction and exoneration of a teenager, and a critique of the Canadian justice system, just because it's a song by a local band that has "wheat" in the title is, well, certainly A Choice

I fell for Manitoba Milling Company’s deceptive packaging and I feel like an idiot for missing the “Imported By” This flax milk isn’t Made In Canada or a Product Of Canada. It’s made from Canadian-grown flax that’s shipped elsewhere (most likely USA) then imported back into Canada

A carton of Manitoba Flax Original fortified flax beverage (flax milk)

The side of the carton, showing two 11-point maple leaves that read “Canadian grown flax” and “Lin cultivé au Canada”

The other side of the carton, bottom right corner reads “Imported by Manitoba Milling Company” with address and website

At least my lungs won’t let me forget that lesson anytime soon. Dealing with a hefty dose of asthma, tobacco allergy, and karma. If a crafter hasn’t disclosed a smoke-free home/workspace, ASK THEM!!!!!

010

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

don’t forget to ask crafters you’re commissioning if they’re smokers or at least work in a smoke-free environment. Don’t learn that lesson the hard way like I did today. I wish I had refused to accept the commission & not gone into the house as soon as I smelled the cigarettes

Trying to research council candidates for my ward but I would have to sign up for facebook in order to do so, except for the 1 guy with a website that’s all AI & generic right-wing taking points No one should need a social media account to do their civic duty

Another Canadian brand disappointment: wanted to switch back to Green Beaver deodorant but they’ve change the formula to include corn starch. It was literally the only Canadian made & owned deodorant that was effective, didn’t burn my skin, and was allergy-safe. And now it’s not

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

And all of their Instagram comments seem to be written by an ai chatbot

010

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

Checked on a Canadian shampoo company to see if their products were on sale bc I can’t find anything else domestically that’s allergy-safe, only to learn that they’ve used AI to rebrand AND they’ve discontinued the wavy hair all-in-one styling product. And the sale prices are still too expensive.

My train has been delayed so long that my boarding pass has disappeared from my wallet app. At least the QR code is in the email

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

And although Alto wouldn’t fix my problems today since my stops won’t be on that line, there are SO MANY people travelling today whose headaches could be solved by high speed rail between Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal

000

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

Now, when I’m supposed to be home already, I’m still sitting in the train station an hour after scheduled departure w/ approx 30min still to go because of mechanical issues. The credits and snacks are nice but I’d rather have mass transit that FUCKING WORKS

100

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

Via Rail is a fucking joke The staff are lovely, the trains are comfortable enough. But the system doesn’t work. My train to Kingston today got stuck just outside Kingston station bc we had to wait 1h20m for 4 trains to pass bc of a signal issue.

100

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 15/08/2026

Stuck on the train waiting for 3 trains to pass before we can get to the station we were supposed to arrive at half an hour ago. If this is what passes for a functional rail system, we need Alto yesterday.

…at a price people would be willing to pay for a knitting pattern. (Not that I would even *want* to sell this pattern. It is 100% just for me & only me. If someone can reverse engineer it from pics, I’ll be very impressed, but I’ll be god damned if I sell the complete pattern.)

010

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 22/07/2026

re lrp: I’m working on a knitting project that has taken YEARS of designing & troubleshooting & I just KNOW I won’t be able to share it when it’s done bc someone will demand the pattern and there is no way that I would even recoup the costs of tech editing & test knitting if I sell the pattern…

if you're banning reusable water bottles at any event, but especially outdoor summer events like World Cup soccer matches, you'd better also be mandating that venues provide free water for attendees and make sure it's also available while they're waiting in line for hours in extreme heat

Honest to fuck if you need a bylaw to tell you not to spoon-feed a bear, you are beyond saving. Go ahead and spoon-feed the bear. Do the city a favour.

010

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 25/04/2026

I’m shocked “don’t spoon-feed bears in your backyard” isn’t one of the tips, but I guess if there’s no bylaw telling you not to do it then it’s perfectly fine

The clue is in the name. It’s not pronounced “La-zed-boy”. If you’re going to try manipulating Canadians into believing a company owned by a hostile foreign entity is somehow Canadian, you need to try harder

020

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 17/04/2026

The idea that La-Z-boy is “proudly Canadian owned” is laughable. Why do American companies think Canadians are stupid enough to fall for their obvious maple-washing?

You can't give up Harry Potter because it means so much to you? Skill issue. There are a bazillion other media franchises out there that you can construct a personality around if you wanted. Like, you can probably even find one with a Chosen One who's very into a sport.

Both colours suck. 11/0 beads do have a large enough hole but it distorts the fabric. Just need to sell them so I can afford to order different colours

000

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 14/02/2026

“We’re defending every job” ok then why did you use AI to make that commercial instead of defending the jobs of digital artists?

000

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 14/02/2026

really, Koho, "no promotional rates ever!"? really? then why was I told that my Essentials annual subscription quadrupled to $48 **BECAUSE** the $12/year I paid last year was a promotional rate? god I'm so glad I closed that account and cancelled the card.

I need a Til Debt Do Us Part: 20 Years Later follow up special. And also a reboot because, while the original information is all still sound, we live in a completely different financial reality than 20 years ago and people have gotten even less financially literate.

000

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 05/02/2026

I am absolutely flying blind on colours though, I have no idea which one will look best with the yarn or if they'll both suck, I have no idea if 11/0 beads have a large enough hole for a 0.5mm crochet hook and 2 strands of lace weight yarn. but this is my best option so I guess I'm taking a chance.

010

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 05/02/2026

I think(??) I've found beads from a store in Scarborough. $23 for two (13,00 pc) packs of 8/0 orchid pink and one (40,000 pc) pack of 11/0 plum. $37 after shipping. I would have preferred buying from an Indigenous business, but hey, if this place has what I need then this place has what I need

110

Robyn @bobbybirb.bsky.social · 04/02/2026

found beads in a good colour for my project at a price I can just about afford, listing includes approximate bead count per pack, figure out I need 22 packs, go to add to cart... only 8 in stock (if anyone has any non-US bulk bead suppliers to recommend, please do)

Not just refunds, but they need to bring back the transit challenge for city council but with stricter rules like no dropping out just because it’s inconvenient. Transit riders don’t have that luxury, council shouldn’t either.
