Canada is implementing tariffs of 25-50% on a large number of items imported from the U.S. after Labour Day. It looked like it was steel, cars … the big stuff. But includes makeup, perfumes, clothing, smartphones, video game consoles, large appliances, fitness equipment, lighting, flooring +++

@cnn.com Why are you so focused on Platner on air, making it the top story on every program yesterday and again today with looong pieces. But the President is in the process of dismantling NATO following a looong call with Putin on America’s 250th. 🤯 Not much on that. Is Ms Weiss already in charge?

Everyone needs a good laugh and we sure had some on Sunday. John Mulaney, Fred Armisen, Nick Kroll and Mike Burbiglia came to Halifax for the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival. Almost 10,000 of us were on the grounds below our Citadel Hill fort, on a beautiful summer night, for a magical experience. ❤️

The digital services tax was put in place so Canadians could get at least some revenue from the US billionaires who have decimated local advertising in our newspapers, radio/TV stations & community papers and also wiped out retail shops. Most pay NOTHING to Canada. #resist

I am watching Brooke Rollins, Agriculture Secretary, lie again on @cnn.com about dairy from Canada. She says “We can’t sell our dairy in Canada”. That is not true. And she would have to be an idiot in her position if she doesn’t know that. This intentional ignorance is an embarrassment.

What strikes me about the Hegseth - Waltz Signal leak is the lack of empathy and respect about the military attack. Using flag, fist and fire emojis after killing many innocents, according to BBC News below, is disgusting. Yemen is one of the poorest countries in the world. Sickening.

I visited my local liquor store this weekend and the entire row of U. S. wines has been removed. It’s been replaced with Tidal Bay, a Nova Scotia appellation wine that 14 vineyards here make. It’s delicious, so try some when our wines are available across Canada. Or when you come to visit!

In 1890, the Tariff Act came into place in the United States. It placed tariffs on imports of up to 50%. While touted as a way to build American industry, there was also the hope it would force an annexation of Canada. It backfired. Let's learn more. 🧵1/10
The image is a black-and-white political cartoon depicting a man in a suit standing behind a counter labeled "Republican Platform." He is holding a bottle labeled "Untaxed Whiskey, 20¢ Gal." in one hand and a piece of cloth labeled "War-Taxed Common Cloth, Tariff 84%" in the other. Above the counter, a sign reads, "If you don’t see what you want, ask for it." The cartoon, signed by W.A. Rogers, appears to satirize the Republican Party's economic policies, highlighting the disparity in taxation between luxury items like whiskey and essential goods like cloth.

Comrade Drumpf has put 25% tariffs on every Canadian import into the U.S. starting today. The only reason for this is his demented desire, fuelled by advice from Bannon and other henchmen, to take over Canada. He is delusional. Get ready for 💵 pain, my American friends. 🇨🇦 is ready.
