The colours of September begin. A field of sunflowers down at Hennigar's Farm Market; a single flower with a green sweat bee that was so very shy; and the bliss of air-fryer sweet corn. Cooler air this morning and coming overnight.

Photo shows a field of sunflowers with a very blue sky with only a few clouds in the distance. Bees everywhere but can't see in this picture.

Single flower with a metallic green sweat bee having a snack. This adorable bees are so skittish, you really gotta act like a ninja to get a photo.

Fresh bicolour sweet corn, spritzed with a little avocado oil and some Tajin, then air fried. Bliss in a dish. All I wanted for supper tonight!

A joyful black cat leaps through the air with its eyes closed and a big toothy smile against a textured gradient background of deep blue, purple, and pink. Above it, handwritten white text reads, “I’m not going to wait for the world to become perfect before I allow myself to enjoy being alive.”

This charming perennial is Melittis melissophyllum, aka bastard balm. I have NO idea why it's called that, it's related to bee balm and very nice. Still recovering from the big plant sale we had on the weekend for @spaydayhrm.bsky.social, which went very well, lots of plants finding new homes.

Melittis melissophyllum Royal Velvet Distinction, a bastard balm with white flowers and a drooping fuchsia lip. Such a nice plant.

Melittis melissophyllum, either a cultivar or a sport of the native form. Not native here, but beautiful and bees seem to love it. This form has rosy pink flowers.

It's always pretty obvious when we're busy with production, proofing, writing, etc. I disappear off social channels except to look at pictures late at night. Usually of cats. Like this one, who steals my chair. I call it, Herby Error, please Reboot. #catsofbluesky #rescuecats

A green eyed tabby cat is sprawled upside down with his paws up, and is staring at his human daring her to move him out of her chair. The chair is covered in blankets and a van Gogh Starry Night slipcover. And a tabby cat.

At my printer's today, I spied this print of the most diva-ish, naughtiest perennial of all, also the most beloved. Meconopsis aka Himalayan Blue poppy. Printer gave it to me, I took it home to show to my just-stirring plants in the garden. Maybe they'll be inspired. #meconopsis #blueskygardens

Photo shows a large painting print of Himalayan blue poppies in a matching blue metal frame. I grow a couple of these moody but glorious plants.

When I have time/mood, I love to cook. Also not afraid of herbs & spices, which liven up so many dishes. My latest from Silk Road Spice Company in Alberta arrived earlier, nothing too exciting but their herbs & spices are topnotch. California Basil is different from regular basil.

An order of herbs and spices from Silk Road Spice Merchant in Alberta, featuring Inca Fire Salt, lime and orange peels, shallots, California basil, sel de provence, cracked rosemary and imitation wasabi, which is great.

Happy #TartanDay - Nova Scotia had the first provincial tartan in Canada. Blue and white are for the surf-ridden sea, greens for the forests, red for the royal lion on the Arms of Nova Scotia, and gold for the province’s historic Royal Charter.

Happy Caturday to all! First, Herby and I did chair yoga. He watched for a while then got up on the back of the chair and onto my shoulder. Then I brought the Herd home a new scratch unit with great Meowsterpieces on it. #caturday #BlueSkyCats #rescuecats #rescueisthebestbreed #adoptdontshop

Handsome tabby watching a video on chair yoga. He would later migrate to the back of my chair and then onto my shoulder. Hilarious but not great for form.

Two cats, one a classic tabby, the other an apricot tuxedo tabby, enjoying a new cube scratching centre, with feline Meowsterpieces on all sides. One door, two windows, two scratch pads, and of course the two brothers want to occupy the same space.

Tulip Withdrawal Syndrome has been averted! I buy my tulips, grown in PEI, at either Stirling Farm Market in Greenwich or or Buds and Bygones in Wolfville. The latter JUST got in fresh tulips, Pdoubles and possibly viridiflora or parrots. Wheeeee! Cassie approves of them as always.

Fresh double tulips, shades of orange, yellow, and green, in a purple gurgle pot, with a green eyed calico supervising.

It will be fun to watch these tulips, with their shades of yellow, orange and green, as they open up and change colour. Grown in PEI, too!

Image of icicles forming in the eavestroughing on the south side of the house. Dangerous but beautiful.

Grieved to my heart's core about the news out of Tumbler Ridge, BC. Only thing I can offer up is a gentle picture of two of my furballs for #whiskerswednesday. They were helping me after I finished an interview and opened some seed packages from All America Selections. #catsofbluesky

For #whiskerswednesday, two of my characters. The greeneyed tabby in the foreground shows off his perfect posing, while his sister, the equally green eyed dilute calico, tolerates his presence. Yes, they are on the table which doubles as a desk. No, I do not care. They are more precious to me than most humans.
