this is why keeping corruption out of government is not some sideshow, it’s fundamental to effective governance if you cannot trust the people in charge of public health because “they changed their story due to bribes” is a legitimate inference, that is a crisis all on its own

there is a cohort of men who resent the responsibilities and obligations of adulthood — of the fact that you owe things to other people. it is a fundamentally childish impulse that they have reconfigured as the height of masculinity, and i think it informs the parasocial attraction to platner.

The obvious points here: *there is no problem that the cops are solving. Some staff are negotiating fan access to players. No need for a govt official to jump in *their natural instinct is to escalate rather than defuse the tension, to demand obedience rather than manage the situation

need to start thinking now about a full package of judicial reforms: new justices, new circuits, new district courts, ethics reforms, docket reforms, and transparency reforms.

Evening viewing recommendation? Watch David Lynch's THE STRAIGHT STORY (1999)! Between the dark surrealism of his LA-set neonoirs, Lynch took a detour to America's heartland for this surprisingly down-to-earth and heartfelt road movie- the film he described as "my most experimental."

More embarrassing stuff from @bloomberg.com. Perhaps its crack reports and savvy editors can try googling "iran jcpoa." Even just skimming the AI summary will reveal how Obama resolved this issue and then Trump screwed it up.
The US and Iran needed more than two months of fitful, strained negotiations to agree on a deal to halt their fighting and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Now comes the hard part.

The provisional agreement announced by the two sides on Sunday night — President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday — leaves a narrow window of 60 days to negotiate issues around Iran’s nuclear program that bedeviled his predecessors for years. The memorandum of understanding, which has yet to be released, will be formally signed on June 19.

It remains baffling to me that we have a clear constitutional requirement that the president can't enrich himself on the job, something we had no problem enforcing strictly for hundreds of years, and then this sweaty conman came by and the nation just sorta shrugged it off.

In Louisiana and likely Alabama, actual, cast votes are going to be tossed out as officials speed ahead with new (or previously enjoined) maps. This is such an extreme use case for the Purcell principle that the court ignoring it here signifies that it was always a made-up toy, not law.
