I can guarantee with 99.9999% certainty that my mother is in several of these groups 😂

Blake Bays Photography @blakedb.photography · 15/12/2025

You say that, but at some point I'm going to try and do the same thing in my 230-ish sq ft studio apartment which will look REALLY stupid ha

I had a lot of fun making these self portraits yestoday. I’ve long struggled with self-confidence, but I’m finally starting to get comfortable with who I am as a person and not worrying as much about how I’m “perceived.” I turn 34 in just a few weeks. It’s about time.

Feeling a bit “down” on my work lately, so here are some good bubbies from the weekend that make me feel better.

I didn’t realize how much I missed the flexibility of digital photography - being able to get out and do reasonable night photography this winter is going to save my mind from going insane, I swear. #photography #nightphotography #newtopographics #snow #winter #blackandwhitephotography

Well I got the FTZ II adapter because I already have the 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8, and 24-120 f4 (along with all my manual focus lenses) - but with that I decided to get the 40mm f2 for my street work 🙂

I stumbled upon his work early on in my photography journey and he's still my all-time favorite - Segregation Story will always be a masterpiece work in my eyes.

I’ve decided to make the switch and picked up a Z5II - I think the romanticism of film is finally lost on me as I stare at several rolls that I no longer want to even try to develop myself 🫠 (I’ll still develop them this weekend, but the extra work finally wore on me I guess)

Good to know, thanks! I actually bought some color film for the first time last week and was bummed that I didn’t get there sooner, but sounds like it’ll still be worth it 🙂 taking my dog anyways so the hike will be fun regardless ha

Blake Bays Photography @blakedb.photography · 14/11/2025

I’m about to head there tomorrow! Are the Fall colors still there (it looks like maybe? I was afraid the snow would ruin it)

@victoriascott.bsky.social not to be weird since we don’t actually know each other, but I thought of your work and interest in cars after I took this 😅🙂

This is fucking insane and the people ordering and carrying out these strikes need to be tried for war crimes literally as soon as possible

Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming. Vital reporting from @ellenbarry.bsky.social and Jason DeParle:

Have I mentioned how much I love this little dude? Shout out to my friends for giving him this toy. He loved it while we were living with them temporarily, so they gave it to him as a gift so he’d have something that smelled familiar after the move. He has a bunch of new toys that get ignored now.

I appreciate how many of my favorite Internet personalities are speaking up in support of you! Wish we had candidates like you in Ohio 😩 (if they exist I’m not aware of them)

I’m in the same boat - about to take out my Canonet tomorrow to give rangefinders another try, I’m determined to make it work but so far unconvinced vs SLRs

knock down the entire White House and put up a McMansion imho, it’s far more suited to America’s present-day values lol

So far I'm not 100% sold on the "medium format look" - like, when shallow DOF is in play it's great, *but* for general street photography it seems like F8 and above isn't really all that different from 35mm. I'll likely be reserving the C330 for more focused project work at this point.

Blake Bays Photography @blakedb.photography · 22/10/2025

The only "downside" is that they'll take a very long time to finish, possibly years - but then again, most of my favorite collections of work took a long time. Koudelka's "Gypsies" took a decade. I could learn to exhibit some patience for once.

Blake Bays Photography @blakedb.photography · 22/10/2025

Something that is exciting me right now is that I feel like I'm starting to move a bit past *just* street photography. I think it'll always be part of my practice (and a good excuse to get out of the house), but my perspective is changing with photography in general - now I have projects.

May have spoken too soon earlier when I stated that this may be the "perfect photo book" - now that I've gotten through the whole thing, it's definitely much more challenging than my initial excitement. I have a lot of thoughts, but not much beyond what has already been written I guess.

ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase. The President is building an army to attack his own country.
