Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Looked at the hearse with its long base on a gravel road and thought "it'd be so funny if it took off and did a doughie, but I can't share this with anyone." Immediately heard my cousin whispering "I was just imagining the hearse taking off and doing some sick skids before leaving." 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I will never top how unfortunate it was to be halfway through Season 5 of Buffy when my Grandfather died, however in the ~week since my Grandmother's death I have picked up two pieces of media featuring a (seemingly) dementia-ridden grandparent dying. Happenstance can be cruel. 010

Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Thankfully I am now a smarter man than I was yesterday, because I started the first episode of the second season at 10:10PM, so there will not be a repeat of my error last night. 101
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I made the small mistake of starting the first episode of Slow Horses at 10:45PM last night, which led to the larger mistake of starting the second episode at 11:55PM, and then much worse the third at 12:50AM. It's good, just finished the first season, loved how farcical it was at times. 100

Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I'm late to the party but I've started playing Big Walk with some friends. It's very charming. Very bad case of the blind leading the blind when two of my friends followed me up a mountain because I was chasing BIG ORB and we ended up lost in the next area. 000

Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I just managed to snap myself out from the allure of short content video because a pianist was playing a variety of songs, and played a six second segment of Claire de lune wrong. It's Claire de lune, don't play it too forte while also fucking up the timing. It's Claire de lune! 100

Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 08/09/2026I'm quite curious if this banding on the landscape in Dawnwalker is a result of my (quite low) graphics settings, or if it's the same sort of issue I've spent an age fighting in Unreal with little success (there's a way to avoid my problem, but I'd have to re-do so much). 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Chose a dialogue option in Dawnwalker "Look what the cat dragged in" expecting a teasing tone. Got to watch Coen deliver it flat, with an undercurrent of spite. Oops, I'm a dickhead! 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 06/09/2026lmao, I loaded my save, had to mash space-bar through the dialogue again, then died to the first attack from the boss like a moron. I'm having flashbacks to my torturous time trying to beat Benezia in Mass Effect 1, and I shall persevere. 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 06/09/2026My most recent save in Dawnwalker is deep underground directly before a boss fight, and I'm currently poisoned, so my health drains until I have very little left, and this is entirely a problem of my own creation, and that's what makes games cool. 100
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 06/09/2026I fought a small group of enemies, and went to destroy what they were guarding, and some civilians walked up to be like "hey, don't do that." But I'd lost health in the fight, so out of my control Coen just ate the first guy to heal. Hell yeah, that'll drive some players *insane.* 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 06/09/2026I gave up my sword to go into an enemy encampment, decided I didn't like the attitude of the leader there, so beat him to death with my hands. Then foraged a random sword and spent two hours loading saves to fight my way past the ~30 enemies in 5 encounters between me and the exit. Good times. 100
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 06/09/2026The Blood of Dawnwalker is a fascinating game, a real "Game Designer's Game." The time management stuff is pretty manageable, except for LEVELING SKILLS, which is diabolical. Tts structure reminds me of Crackdown of all things. And jank is its middle name. Strong Recommend. 120

Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Upside: I worked out what I think is a good solution to a pacing issue in this little incremental. Downside: It is a motherfucker to implement without breaking my existing systems. Oh well, time to break shit. 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 07/08/2026I spent an hour and a half getting a plugin for box3d to work in Unreal this evening. It's sure as hell faster than Chaos, but I don't have time to crack into the code to work out if it can do what I want, so I'll wait and see if blueprint support improves. 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 05/08/2026I've been playing Project Zomboid with some friends after the most recent update, and it's becoming increasingly clear that everyone else has goals and intentions and plans, while I am simply driven by a desire to destroy zombies. 020
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 02/08/2026I got the save system working on my little incremental, and it only took ~3 hours. It's amazing how much easier it is if you do it early, and at least put a tiny smidge of effort towards designing your data to be saved (I will not learn this lesson). 010
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 31/07/2026I've started reading Steel Ball Run recently, and it's sick as hell, the Jobros were right. I'm also now up to the part where Araki is putting little drawings in his text boxes, which is a delight. 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 26/07/2026And that's credits on FF13-2. I'd largely describe it as nonsense (derogatory) compared to the first game's nonsense (complimentary). It's often over-designed, painfully of its era, and its soundtrack was rubbish. But I had a lot of fun, and its ending is bold, and there wasn't much Snow, so... 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 26/07/2026I understand the, uh, logic of a pure logic puzzle as a minigame, but this one in FF13-2 has to take top place for greatest logical leap between the main game, and a mini-game. I am not sitting down to work this out. I will press buttons randomly, or use a solver. 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 26/07/2026I wonder if the international audience has the same response that I do to Kiwi accents, where everything is ~10% funnier purely because of how it's said? In line with that, do they also find the Australian version 10% more aggravating? 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 26/07/2026While playtesting I've been catching up on Taskmaster, and the "Taskmaster International" playlist on youtube for NZ Season 1 is diabolical. 120
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 25/07/2026Oh, and I beat three stages of the final boss, then got absolutely obliterated by its fourth stage, had an arguably worse second attempt, and have now retreated back to the main game to grind resources, which is just shameful. 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 25/07/2026I have reached what I believe to be the final area in Final Fantasy XIII-2. It is a fine addition to my theory that every JRPG has a bad final dungeon. (It's not too long, which is rare, but *some* of the enemies are a huge difficulty spike, they spawn too frequently, and its layout is tedious) 100

Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 23/07/2026This is completely unrelated, but my attempt to see Saddam Hussein under that line has resolved into a woman with a very large head and excessively long neck lying on her back with her toes pointed down. 020
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 22/07/2026FF13-2 just had me joyous to recognise Vanille's voice. I don't know how to feel about this. 000
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 17/07/2026The UI in FF13-2 is largely uglier than FF13 (they tried to make it a look a little more "classic Final Fantasy" but hit a middle ground that just looks cheap), but I will always go to bat for a level title placed in the world (even if it's a magical projection). 010
Blaghs @blaghs.bsky.social · 16/07/2026After finishing 13 I told myself that I probably shouldn't attempt basically the same thing with 13-2, because if I finish it I might have to play 13-3 (which I've never played). Anyway, here we are. 001
