#AnnieAbrahams, the artist I've learned so much from, both in art and in life, is having a retrospective in the Netherlands! ➠ Ver Ver . Binding – the retrospective exhibition of @anniea.bsky.social, Kunstwerk Kolderveen, Nijeveen, 10 Oct - 28 Nov 2026 www.kunstwerkkolderveen.nl/exhibitions/...

A pixelated grayscale portrait of Annie Abrahams fills most of the image, overlaid with bright yellow and orange flame-like shapes around the face and head. On the left are two small grayscale portrait images. On the right, two stacked computer interface panels titled “Command Igor instead of Annie” and “Command Annie instead of Igor” display lists of text commands, including phrases such as “tell igor to sit,” “tell me how you love igor,” “forget commands,” “bark,” and “dance.” The image resembles a screenshot of an experimental early web artwork or interactive interface.

Yesterday, I saw the ten-hour performance by Carolina Bianchi: Trilogia Cadela Força / Trilogy of Bitches (trilogie intégrale / complete trilogy – Chapters I, II and III) at the Odéon Théâtre de l’Europe as part of the Festival d'Automne in Paris. www.festival-automne.com/en/edition-2...

A large group of performers stands in a line onstage, bending forward in unison toward the audience. They wear mostly red, blue, black, and pink clothing. Behind them is a large black-and-white projected image combining handwritten text, drawings, and a dark central figure. The ornate gold-and-red interior of the theater surrounds the stage, while a large audience watches and applauds.

The exterior of the Odéon Théâtre de l’Europe in Paris, a grand neoclassical building with tall stone columns and ornate architectural details. Three large red banners hang between the columns, listing artists and performers. Above them, black fabric banners display the words “CADELA” and “FORÇA” in large white handwritten letters. French and European flags fly from the roof.

A group of performers stands shoulder to shoulder across the stage, with their arms around one another after the performance. They wear predominantly red, blue, and black clothing. Behind them is a large black-and-white backdrop covered with handwritten text, diagrams, drawings, and a dark central figure. A small white-and-blue figure is visible among the performers near the right side of the group.

We stopped in Karlsruhe and visited ZKM, where we saw the surprisingly intelligent and subtle Silver Egg exhibition and, of course, the ever-inspiring permanent collection. By the way, after many years, we got to see Stelarc's Exoskeleton again!

A large transparent spherical vessel, about the size of a person, is partially filled with vivid green liquid. Condensation covers the inside of the dome, while thick transparent tubes and polished metal pipes connect to the front of the structure, giving it the appearance of a futuristic laboratory device or bioreactor. The installation is displayed in a spacious gallery with wooden parquet flooring.

Stelarc's Exoskeleton robotic installation fills a dark gallery space. The large metallic machine resembles a giant six-legged spider, with articulated hydraulic legs extending from a central circular platform. A tall framework rises from the center, carrying cables, sensors, and mechanical arms. Bright spotlights highlight the silver structure, casting dramatic shadows across the parquet floor and black walls.

A digital artwork composed of five rectangular screens arranged in an irregular vertical formation against a black wall. The displays show luminous white particle clouds swirling across deep blue backgrounds, creating abstract, fluid forms that appear to flow seamlessly from one screen to the next. The minimalist presentation emphasizes the glowing motion and fragmented composition.

Every day is International Women's Day! ("Militarism on Trial", Frankfurt, 1914. Rosa Luxemburg was prosecuted for her anti-militarist speech and for agitating against the military. The caricature depicts the trial through an inverted perspective: Rosa is the one putting militarism on trial.)

A black-and-white political caricature from 1914 titled "Militarism on Trial." In the center background, Rosa Luxemburg stands behind a raised podium, pointing an accusing finger toward the foreground. Below her, a military officer in a pointed helmet sits with his back to the viewer on a bench labeled "Anklagebank" (Defendant's Bench). Between them, two rows of benches labeled "Zeugenbank" (Witness Bench) are filled with skeletons wearing military uniforms, facing each other. Two court officials are seated at the desk next to Luxemburg, appearing to take notes. The scene is framed by a formal courtroom setting, creating a powerful visual reversal where the anti-war activist acts as the prosecutor of the military.

View of the historic Rococo Hall inside the Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar. The room is grand and oval-shaped, lined with floor-to-ceiling shelves filled with antique books in faded leather bindings. The walls are painted pale blue with white stucco ornamentation and gilded gold accents on the railings, columns, and cornices. A curved upper gallery wraps around the room, supported by arches and balustrades decorated with intricate gold leaf. Marble busts of scholars and historical figures stand at intervals along the balcony. Above, a richly decorated ceiling features an oval skylight with painted artwork and sculpted flourishes. Soft natural light shines through tall arched windows, supplemented by hanging lantern-style lamps that add a warm glow. The overall atmosphere is solemn, elegant, and reverent — a sanctuary of knowledge preserved in exquisite 18th-century style.

The person on the right, in a light blue T-shirt and denim shorts, is also focused on attaching items to the cloth. Around them, several small white objects with blue straps are placed on the map. The house where Nietzsche was born, Röcken, Saxony-Anhalt.

Three vertical panels / Left panel: A view of the entrance to a small historic house with light yellow and white plaster walls and timber framing. The wooden door is open, revealing a dark hallway inside. Several plant pots and flowers are arranged near the steps. A small portrait photo of Friedrich Nietzsche is placed on a brick ledge next to the entrance. Center panel: A close-up of Friedrich Nietzsche’s grave, a horizontal stone slab with gold-colored engraved text reading: “FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE, 15 OCTOBER 1844 – 25 AUGUST 1900.” The stone lies flat on the grassy ground with dappled sunlight and some moss in the engraved letters. Right panel: A gray statue of a naked male figure with an exaggerated mustache, resembling Nietzsche. The figure stands upright in a grassy yard, holding a round object in front of its lower body. Trees and a red-roofed building are visible in the background.

Wider garden view: A broader view of the house where Nietzsche was born in Röcken, Saxony-Anhalt. The old building has ivy growing along its wall and several windows with faded wooden shutters. A bench sits near the entrance, which is partially obscured by a large tree. The surrounding yard is grassy, with flowers, potted plants, and a rustic outbuilding in the background. A few tables and a red cart are seen in the distance, suggesting a quiet, rural setting.

With doctoral students after the lecture. 🌬️ Early spring in Venice just hits different – a bit of winter's chill still hanging around, but you can already feel the promise of new beginnings in the air.

A group of eleven people is gathered in an outdoor courtyard with stone pavement. They are standing in front of a rustic pink building with tall windows, framed by two leafless trees. The group is diverse in age and style, wearing a mix of casual and stylish clothing, with some donning scarves, hats, and jackets. Many are smiling and posing closely together, reflecting a warm and friendly atmosphere. One person is crouching in the front while others stand behind them. The yellow tote bag and bright blue skirt add pops of color to the otherwise muted background.

A narrow Venetian canal winds through historic buildings with warm-toned facades and green shutters. Small boats, some covered with blue tarps, line the canal. A red fire hydrant stands on the right side of the stone walkway. In the distance, a small arched bridge crosses the canal. The calm water reflects the architecture and the soft overcast sky, creating a serene and picturesque scene.

The church of Santa Maria della Vittoria was just around the corner from my hotel, so I popped in to say hi to Teresa of Ávila, just to check if she's still in ecstasy. 💥 And thanks to everyone who came to my book event in Rome yesterday, it was such a good time! phd.uniroma1.it/web/artist-a...

The sculpture over the altar shows Saint Teresa of Ávila, a Spanish Carmelite nun (1515–1582), swooning in a state of religious ecstasy, while an angel holding a spear stands over her, following her own account of a vision she had. A marble sculpture of an angel and a reclining woman, set against a dramatic backdrop of golden rays. The angel, with flowing hair and large wings, holds a golden arrow and looks down tenderly at the woman. The woman, draped in flowing robes, tilts her head back with an expression of ecstasy or surrender. The golden rays fan out behind them, creating a heavenly atmosphere. The detailed carving of the figures' faces, clothing, and posture captures a sense of movement and emotion. Location: The church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome, Italy. The book can be found in online bookstores. intima.org/kunst/bojana...

A book titled Artista en obras: De la proximidad entre arte y capitalismo by Bojana Kunst is displayed in a bookstore or library. The book cover features an image of a woman dressed in black, carrying a wooden structure on her back, standing in a reflective body of water with mountains in the background. A person’s hands hold two copies of the book to show both the front and back covers. The back cover contains a detailed description of the book’s content.

The index page of the book Artista en obras is shown. It lists chapters discussing themes such as the discomfort of active art, subjectivity and sociality in art production, movement, duration, post-Fordism, visibility of labor, and a conclusion on laziness and less work. The last section is a bibliography.

A close-up of the book’s introduction, titled Una segunda introducción (Artista en obras, 10 años después). The text explains the book’s history, originally published in Slovenian (2012) and English (2015), and later translated into multiple languages. Framed dot patterns: A framed artwork featuring two columns of meticulously arranged black dots and circles on a beige background. The dots vary in size and opacity, forming a structured, grid-like pattern. The frame is wooden with a simple, natural finish. Other similar framed artworks are partially visible around it on a white gallery wall.

A beige vintage dot matrix printer sits on top of a white pedestal, continuously printing on perforated computer paper that cascades down onto the floor. The printout contains dense lines of text, giving the appearance of an endless stream of data. The artwork is displayed in an industrial-style space with a dark wooden floor, contrasting with the stark white pedestal. The piece evokes themes of automation, information overload, and the passage of time in digital communication.

Pong installation: A retro-style art installation featuring a grid of vintage CRT monitors, many displaying the word "PONG" in bright blue text. Below the monitors, there’s an exposed circuit board and wiring mounted on a white panel, connected to a vintage computer keyboard on a white table. The installation gives a sense of early computer gaming history.

Video installation wall: A long row of CRT monitors mounted on a gray metal frame in a gallery setting. Each screen displays different visuals, including text, abstract patterns, and human figures. Below each monitor, a pair of headphones hangs neatly. The row of screens extends into the distance, creating a sense of depth and repetition.

A vibrant portrait of two people posing against a bold pink background with a subtle vertical texture. They are dressed in matching black button-up shirts, and each wears oversized round black sunglasses. The woman on the left has straight brown hair with blunt bangs and wears bright red lipstick. Her glasses have pink-tinted lenses, and she has long, silky red ribbons tied into bows on both sides of her head, with the ends cascading down her shoulders. The man on the right is bald with a neatly trimmed white beard. His sunglasses have solid bright cyan lenses, giving them an otherworldly appearance. Both individuals have neutral expressions with slight smiles and are positioned closely together, facing the camera.

Ἐγρήγορει, ὦ τέχνη! ~ The Epidaurus Theater at the Sanctuary of Asklepios

A woman with shoulder-length dark hair, wearing black sunglasses, a dark green sweater, and black pants, stands in the center of the ancient Epidaurus Theater at the Sanctuary of Asklepios in Greece. She has both arms raised towards the sky, with an expression of triumph or theatrical performance. The sun shines brightly behind her, casting a dramatic shadow on the gravel ground, which resembles the silhouette of a bird with outstretched wings. The massive stone seating of the theater rises behind her, partially filled with visitors scattered throughout. The sky is a mix of bright blue and fluffy white clouds, adding depth and contrast to the scene. A low stone railing separates the person from the seating area, and a narrow path leads directly to where they are standing.
