Clearly, the investigation is a crock. Even Fox admits that. See attached. Quite apart from that, if it's not obvious to you that this is just one more instance of the Trump regime demonizing Muslims, and specifically, Somalis, then I advise you to pull your head out of your ass.

The episode shows how the Trump administration and its allies selectively disclose government files, omitting context to discredit investigations that led to Mr. Trump’s federal indictment and that anger his supporters. As the midterm elections approach, it also shows how a grievance narrative can be manufactured and inserted into national political discourse.

Cold hard numbers, well-presented in a short essay. Here's a piece:
As we approach the two-year mark since Donald Trump’s second election victory, it’s a good time to do a little economic scorekeeping. Before getting into where the economy is and where it’s going, it’s worth a little reminder of where it was before the election.

This is important because Trump and the Republicans continuously spew utter nonsense about an economic disaster that only exists in their imagination. By literally every standard measure, the economy was doing extremely well just before the election. The unemployment rate was hovering near 4.0%, and nominal wages were growing at roughly a 4.0% annual rate.

Inflation had slowed sharply, with the year-over-year rate at 2.6% in October of 2024. This translated into real wage growth of close to 1.5%. Inflation was expected to continue to slow, with most projections having inflation coming in very close to the Fed’s 2.0% target by the end of 2025.

There had been a massive surge in the number of people able to work from home as a result of the pandemic, with that figure still being close to 20% by the end of 2024. These people were saving hundreds of hours a year in commuting time and thousands of dollars annually in commuting-related costs. There also had been an unprecedented explosion in factory construction, with real spending in 2024 more than double the pre-pandemic level in 2019.

Growth for the year was 2.5%, and it was expected to be above 2.0% for the near future. This story was the basis for The Economist’s famous cover story about the U.S. economy: The Envy of the World.
Trump Takes Over: The Story Darkens

Virtually without exception, the data have gotten worse under Trump. Inflation has risen; nominal wage growth has slowed. Factory construction has plummeted. The

There are larger points to @mobute.bsky.social's essay, but the opening is just such wonderful writing that I wanted to call it out for itself. www.truthdig.com/articles/big...
Look, I’ve been around the block. I know what it means when a feature of my life is suddenly appended with words like -coded and -core. It means the things about myself that I can’t or don’t want to change are being sold back to me as a lifestyle choice, or worse, a movement. It means I’ve become real in the realest way possible: in the eyes of marketers and assignment editors running on fumes.

I knew what the dad-bod trendlet amounted to. As with nerdcore, the hard sound of the last part did not cancel out the dweebness of the first. It was a cheap attempt to aestheticize the mundane, to apply a layer of hip gloss on the utility of nobler, truer, Britisher words like paunchy. Which is to say, I know my role. It’s to tell you that Costco is real.

9:23 AM · Oct 9, 2026 Everybody can replyThe Trump administration announced on Thursday that it will exempt winter oil and gas drilling in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska from the environmental reviews normally required by the National Environmental Policy Act. The Interior department is using a categorical exclusion, which is supposed to be used for activities that have no significant impact on the environment.

The categorical exclusion will apply to seismic surveys, temporary road construction, and exploratory well drilling—activities “whose environmental consequences are well understood,” according to the Interior department’s notice in the Federal Register. The move follows an announcement in September that the administration was fast-tracking approvals of oil drilling projects in the NPR-A.

While he's saying dumb shit into microphones, let's not lose sight of some of the more important things. Here's a nice summary from Paul Krugman. "The Trump Administration is a Cesspit of Corruption" paulkrugman.substack.com/p/the-trump-...
The level of corruption that Trump has engaged in and enabled in others is completely unprecedented – self-dealing that, as Trump would say, is like nothing anybody has ever seen before. America currently has a Republican president who, along with his family, has raked in billions, possibly close to $10 billion in personal gain from office in less than two years. He has effectively sold criminal pardons to scammers, invalidating the legal claims of their victims for restitution. His son-in-law Jared Kushner has become a billionaire running an investment fund for Gulf petro-state autocrats despite having no discernible investment skills. The Times just reported that Kristi Noem paid hundreds of millions over the reasonable price for 5 aircraft – one of which contains a marble bathroom and luxury bedroom – that were ostensibly for deportations but are instead sitting on the runway. And then there’s Trump’s Secretary of the Commerce, Howard Lutnick, whose family has doubled its net worth to over $7 billion, largely through its investments in Tether, the crypto-currency of choice by Iran, terrorists and rogue states.

Before going on to explain Trump’s sudden interest in the South Carolina contest, I do want to note that his bigotry is of course revolting. In a civilized era, it would be shocking to see it coming from a president of the United States. But we do not live in a civilized era. In a non-cowardly era, the slur would be denounced by Republicans as well as Democrats. But we do not live in a non-cowardly era. In a better era, Andrews’s Republican opponent, Sen. Darline Graham, would step up to criticize a supporter for using the term. But we do not live in a better era.
