Doesn't matter how often I see them. There is no joy like sharing the local fenland countryside with the Cranes! 😊 Beautiful on the Ouse Washes this afternoon @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social #ukbirding

Glad I twitched the Yellow-browed Warbler at Milton CP this morning. Only my 2nd in Cambs (1st also at Milton!). After an initial wait, it suddenly appeared, vocal and showy. Nice to see some familiar faces there too 🙂 @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social #ukbirding
Probably the best photo of a YBW I've ever taken. You can actually see most of the bird! And only 4 twigs obscuring it 😂

Classic Black Redstart - on a construction site. One of 3 enjoying Waterbeach Barracks housing development today. Miraculously, I saw one immediately! A welcome change of form from my usual Restart dipping 😅 @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social #ukbirding

My 7th Pec Sand. All in Cambs but all at different sites. Surely a chance for me to find one somewhere in the county sometime! 😄 Happy to add it to my Ouse Washes list. This one still at the RSPB reserve, favouring Rickwood Hide @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social #ukbirding

Nice to be back at the Ouse Washes today. A few Ruff, Snipe and Crane at Cadbury hide but really enjoyed the visitor centre garden with 26 species just from the bench! Spotted Flycatcher didn't seem to mind me for company as it snapped up flies @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social #ukbirding

That was good! Had to work for it - search, scan, wait, hope! But as the tide went out, the Godwits returned to the Stour shoreline and then suddenly it was there in my scope: mega Hudsonian Godwit! 🤩 Two short flights showed that luscious dark underwing too. Fabulous. Video below #lifer #ukbirding

More great birds in Bulgaria. Calandra Lark, Long-legged Buzzard and Whiskered Tern were today's lifers, with Middle Spotted Woodpecker and Short-toed Treecreeper yesterday. This spanking Red-breasted Fly maybe bird of the day though. So good seeing everything in breeding plumage! 😍

My annual bout of Wheatear Anxiety sets in around late March. They are an absolute fave & I can't see enough! After a poor year in Cambs last year it's a relief to hear of more sightings this spring. County tick! 😁 Red-breasted Merganser is scarce in Cambs and a bit slippery! So I was pleased to connect at Fen Drayton Lakes with @JoeParham19.bsky.social's bird. Good find! And good team effort to get everyone on it, as it proved mobile & skulky at times @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social #ukbirding
