Moth trap was good last night with 122 species. Four-spotted was NFG and couple of scarcer wainscots were nice.

Friday night was good in the moth trap VC29. Kent Black Arches had me baffled for a while. Little and large pink-and-green-moths were resting together. And Marbled Clover got the pulse racing for a moment.

The Western Reef Heron at Conwy gave me and Richard Bradbury the runaround this morning. After a brief early sighting it then eluded us for an hour. But finally gave us spectacular views and some great entertainment as it fished in tidal pools. #ukbirding

Something going on with Norfolk Hawkers round us. Yesterday there at least 5 flying around my garden in Cambs and the local nature reserve Ouse Fen is full of them. No Water Soldier I'm aware of.

What's the business case for a farmer to take down old hedges (3-5m) around pasture. This is quite wet grassland often inundated for weeks in winter, grazed by cattle from time to time. He might gain a metre wide strip of grass along the field edge. What other rationale might there be?
