But FYI if you’re going for “true” vanilla you likely need chocorenderlimits or Chocolate Doom for testing, and to learn the visplane explorer in the editor to keep an eye on whether the map geometry is getting too complex. Even then, there are so many weird things that can majorly break a map tbh

“Vanilla aesthetic” limit-removing maps are cool in my book, which sounds like what you’re describing. Honestly true vanilla compatibility is a pretty niche thing to target, though fun if you approach it as a puzzle of “how am I going to make something cool under these insane restrictions?”

Then when I'd finished that and I went back to working with pieces that were like three minutes long, it seemed like oceans of time."

as anyone remotely familiar with my body of work probably knows, i make a lot of 3d renders in the style of amateur 90s cgi with a version of 3ds max from 1998. here's a handful from the past few years, haven't done too many standalone renders as most of my retro cgi work is doom textures/sprites
