If nothing else AI is making clear that there are people all around us for whom writing, art, and music are not communion with another mind, but just - wallpaper. Just pleasant things to look at. They think AI is conscious because they have no actual grasp of what it is to encounter another mind.

Universities must address AI cheating
After suspecting that his students cheated on an at-home mid-term exam, economist Robert Serrano held the course’s final examination in person — the class’s average score plummeted. The shock “was not that cheating seems to have occurred on the take-home exam, but how prevalent it appeared to be”, he writes. Universities should establish dedicated committees to ensure academic integrity is upheld, and work as a collective to establish best practices for the appropriate use of AI, to ensure that such tools don’t undermine learning, he argues.

At an invitation-only gathering in Italy, white supremacists mapped out strategies to target rural America while local press coverage vanishes www.confrontthehate.com/p/white-nati...
As economic pressures gut local newsrooms across the country, white nationalist figures see an untapped opening: stepping into media deserts where there are few journalists left to sound the alarm.

“Local media has been dying all over America, which means that there’s essentially no real way to hold local governments accountable—and they can do whatever they want,” Kevin DeAnna told an invitation-only gathering of approximately 50 white nationalists in Rome.

Breaking into a broad smile, he excitedly added: “You should be fantasizing about this. This is a good thing.”

Of course the press gallery types love the melon thing - they actively seek out stories that require no reading and no understanding of policy. They look stories that amble them to talk about the "look" or how "the politics play out" *and* ones that enable them to take the "high moral ground".
