Yes, we're stuck with criminology that defines criminality as an inherent characteristic, which is how some people, caught breaking the law, can earnestly insist "But I'm not a criminal!'

A lot of people have moral logic that works like this. You decide whether a C or a P is applicable. 1. Ra_ists are bad people 2. I am a good person 3. Therefore I am not a ra_ist.

Safety alone isn't enough to get more women cycling. Cities must start building cohesive networks connecting the myriad places women need to go. This means looking beyond “Can women cycle safely here?” and asking: “Can women use this network to live their lives?” LISTEN: www.dw.com/en/why-arent...

The hyper-vigilance required in order to stay as safe as possible when cycling is not just for self-preservation purposes, it’s also because you have the pick up the mental slack on behalf of distracted or inattentive motorists, of which there are many.

Agreed. As a food pantry manager put it, "If you donate a can of beans, I can give out one can of beans. If you donate $1, I can give out 3 cans of beans." Or something like that, I don't remember his exact math. Food pantries can get bulk discounts.

I remember when I was more active in Urbanist circles one thing that always confused me was the way British people used the term "pavement" They were always complaining about "pavement parking" and as an American I thought, "yeah, that's a normal place to park a car."

Behind it, not visible in photos, is Lackawanna's original city hall, built ca. 1910. It is a handsome masonry building and will be retained.

What Would A Woman Do To An Unconscious Man If She Thought No-One Would Find Out?
I’ve been thinking about this a lot over the course of the trial of Dominique Pelicot and his fellow accused: what would a woman do to an unconscious man if she thought no-one would find out?

I learned that New York state has a law requiring all cars to be operated with one hand on the wheel, this would seem to make Tesla FSD illegal in the state. But, I don't think it's enforced, why not?
