What really sucks about where we are now is that I distinctly remember having a conversation with a student who was bemoaning how bad things were in 2014 by asserting that, overall, things were getting better. The example I gave was how slurs were becoming less and less common in public spaces.

Legitimately the *best* thing I can say about the show is that they were approached by a major studio to get the rights for the show, but refused because they didn't want to compromise their vision. Which successfully limited their potential exposure.

Yes, 4 was specifically supposed to build to a successor, but fans wanted Kiryu (at least that's my understanding). It's subtitle is literally "Heirs to the Legend." It even ends with Kiryu indicating he can sleep well knowing that the Jimas, Akiyama, and Tanimura will keep the peace.
