But the kickoff decisons shouldn't have even mattered. Why did Sirianni call a time out at 8 seconds before Elliot's kick. No reason to not let the clock run down to like 1 or 2 seconds.

disagree - its a low percentage shot that likely gives them a goal kick and possession. Given we were winning, it was more important to keep possession at that moment.

it depends what you mean by not worried. I think he continues to be a plus starter for team with our aspirations. So no real issue. But I think there are real questions about if he really is going to reach the heights we were hoping for - i.e. competing for the Ballon d'Or.

Underrated reason for the Eagles fall off: They haven't had a good draft since 2024. Few if any even decent players from 2025 and 2026. I think the biggest issue is not drafting any OL either. Howie needs to get back to that.

Sirianni is the root problem. Its weird in that he has had so much success. But the team always looks like this unless they have an elite OC. They always underperform their talent on offense.

they didn't though really. I'd agree if it was a historically massive team with a very big English fan base like say Liverpool. But City just aren't a big club in England, so throwing overboard is much less painful.

City's summer spending was clearly an effort to get ahead of sanctions. But the question is what recourse their players have. For my sins, I see way too much content and even I’ve only encountered the song in glancing and meta ways, like being scolded to acknowledge its popularity. It’s easier to top the charts w/o reaching everybody today bc we don’t have a monoculture, and that’s not the fault of individual consumers.

Meanwhile, the top English teams have to play the likes of Sunderland, Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth in addition to the traditional giants. There really are basically no easy games in the PL. Even the best teams need to be 100% focused in every game they play.

The argument in this piece is one that is becoming more and more obvious. The Premier League is just so much better than any other league in the world, top to bottom. Sides like PSG and Bayern can look like they do in the CL because they simply don't play many good teams most of the time.
