We have hit our submission quota for the month and are now closed until November. BUT–we are experimenting with short-form poetry. For a chance to be featured in an upcoming issue, write an eco-inspired haiku, use the tag #TheRottingHaiku, and tag us in the post!

So, remodeling recently and I just figured out how to get more wall available for art and shit. Get rid of doors! Such a waste of space. So, yeah, just leave the food outside the part of the wall where you can hear me screaming the loudest.

I’m guest editing the next issue of Agita; send me your weirdest <1000 word stories about weird art. Authors from marginalized backgrounds encouraged and prioritized. No AI bullshit. The weirder the better. agitamag.com/submissions/
Issue 3: Ekphrasis
Between October 17 and November 17, guest editor Zachary Gillan will accept submissions of weird flash fiction that features ekphrasis.
Ekphrasis is the verbal representation of a work of visual art.
Weird fiction is a verbal representation of the world, in order to unsettle it.
We want stories that live at the intersection of the two. Pieces that emphasize the eerie power of weird art, whether fully ekphrastic or embedded within a traditional narrative. How does the weird seep in as reality is doubly estranged from these two layers of representation? Cursed paintings, uncanny statues, haunted mezzotints-send us your stories of weird art.

when a two star review truly understands your soul better than most five stars. make it the blurb. THE MARIGOLD.
No. Noooo no no, did not like. Characters meh. Didn't care what happened to them. Glacial overwrought pace. Prosey AF. Felt like I was wearing a grey sludge patina over my soul for days while reading. Nearly DNF. Need several dozen hot showers and a good fantasy novel to shake the feeling of being sunk neck deep in neverending dull Scottish muggy moors for a week under a doomsday sky, alone. Not even birds. If soggy ancient grain bread were a novel.

Absolutely unbelievable how solar power has taken off worldwide during the Hormuz oil crisis. You don't have to hand it to him, but Trump may have done more to finally kick off a global civilization of effete librul solar users than anyone else in the West
Chart showing solar panel exports from China (the main solar panel maker by a long shot) growing steadily & mightily from 2018 through 2026, then spiking by almost 2x in March 2026.

The “jaw-dropping” El Niño currently heating up the planet has burst through the highest temperature ever recorded for the phenomenon, several months before its expected peak.
A line chart showing temperature anomalies in the Niño 3.4 region of the Pacific Ocean, compared to a 30-year rolling base period since 1982.

A gold line shows temperatures in 1997, a teal line in 2025, and a red line in 2026. The red line surpasses all others reaching 3.07ºC, and at an earlier point (September) than the previous El Niño that reached a comparable range in November 2015.
