An anniversary worth marking. I'm sure we're going to see the very people who have trashed its legacy seek to appropriate WW2 today - so let's remember what was really fought for: peace, a more united Europe, a land fit for heroes (mark 2) and the defeat of fascism.

The suffering that will be unleashed on Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos is horrific. And that's not because they have "raped" America. It's because they're poor, they can't afford many US goods but they can become wealthier by exporting to rich countries.

These are the same people who lost the Civil War, whose belief system lost in World War 2, who lost colonial wars that came after, who lost in apartheid. These people are losers, and they’re dreadfully afraid they are losing again. And they should be, because they’re going to keep losing.

The kitchen is often annoyingly low on food on a Sunday evening. I've found ChatGPT to be great for suggesting a recipe based on a handful of ingredients I do have in. Tonight it was a lovely soup based on celeriac and red lentils. And adjusted for the number of people and the metric system. 👨‍🍳

Don't confuse being a fast talker with being a deep thinker. Speaking quickly signals confidence, not complexity. Don't mistake volume for expertise. Speaking loudly reflects conviction, not credibility. Sometimes the best ideas come from the least assertive voice in the room.

I work with many Americans and from a young age, they’re taught the principles of public speaking (think elementary show & tell). You can see the impact to their confidence in the workplace vs Brits. Drama is more useful than just for those who want to join the film industry.
