Ben @ben.casita.zone · 01/10/2026I guess the main question with this is where is new entrants into that smaller group come from. Maybe it’s so small as a group that it can just be filled completely with software mentats 000 0
Ben @ben.casita.zone · 24/09/2026I think that if you want to be a historic preservationist you should have to really commit: no technologies or materials from beyond your point of historical importance. So no car, no internet, no indoor plumbing, etc. 010 0

Ben @ben.casita.zone · 08/09/2026I don't necessarily despair over the technology itself (it's pretty amazing that we can train machines on all human intelligence and find answers to extremely hard problems!) but on the way it is owned and the cultural and political power of those owners. 140 0

But at least sqrt(10)x better. 2621 0
Ben @ben.casita.zone · 08/09/2026While the newer models seem incredibly capable I can't help but despair over the way they will likely be deployed and used to reinforce the existing social order and crush the human spirit. 1986 0

Ben @ben.casita.zone · 06/05/2026Perhaps something is bad on my end, but I had pulled down the GTFS-RT source from the `getGTFS` endpoint as described and was getting back the March 17 set! Anyways it does all seem fine now; thank you. 010 0

Ben @ben.casita.zone · 05/05/2026NJ Transit released a new GTFS static data source that as far as I can tell is just completely incompatible with their GTFS-RT feed. There is no documentation or upgrade path or recommended replacement, it just suddenly doesn’t work! And the old static file schedule ended on May 1. It’s a mess. 130 0
