Hadn’t seen some of my pals in a while so I texted a few of them asking if they wanted to grab pizza and they said hell yeah so we got pizza and told dumb jokes and talked about our lives for a few hours and it was very nice

If you were being really cynical, you might suggest that constantly increasing our reliance on corporate tax revenue from multinational companies is an intentional gambit to hand those same companies more and more power over how the country is run and stop future govs going against them

Every year Ireland gets stern warnings about how reliant it is on corpo tax revenue and every year it cuts its other tax nets to make that reliance worse.

If Budweiser was trying to identify individual alcoholics and send them personalized "Chuck, you haven't had a drink in a while, here's a free case on us" ads we would rightfully call for them to be drawn and quartered

The answer to pretty much every cost of living concern you’ve ever had is a well-funded public option because the root cause of the every cost of living concern you’ve ever had is private companies trying to increase profits I know this makes me sound like a communist but that’s only because I am

Everybody wants to “run the government like a business” until it comes to basic concepts like using economies of scale to drive down prices and scrapping expensive systems of means testing that cost more money than they save

You wouldn’t be so worried about increasing fuel prices with a robust public transport network The housing situation wouldnt be so dire with a proper social housing system Who cares about private insurance premiums going up when there’s a well funded public option?

I don’t want my taxes cut. I want my public services to function properly even if that means increasing my taxes

Just did one of those Budget Calculators and apparently I’ll have €70 more disposable income a month. Hardly life-changing money Do you know what would make a much bigger difference? Proper state healthcare so I don’t have to pay a lot more than €70 a month for private health insurance

This is neoliberalism in action. Private businesses cannot provide satisfactory public services because the profit motive has primacy.

I actually love billions going to subsidise fossil fuel companies instead of long term solutions. It's class that we can afford to prolong the issue of fossil fuel dependency indefinitely. I love it

As someone who will probably "benefit" from this in the next few weeks, this is a bad idea. I'm not being "helped to buy". Taxes I've already paid, and that could've gone to funding basic services, will instead be funneled to the wealthy developer of an overvalued property.

Well, that’s the housing crisis solved then. No way this could backfire and actually end up inflating property prices even further. Now to take a big sip of coffee and read about economics for the very first time

Another budget with a surplus in the billions and taxes cut while nothing works and we have record levels of homelessness. You’d start to suspect they don’t actually want to fix any of the problems…

Person one: Taught my kids how socialism works. Let them trick or treat while I stayed home. Then took all their candy. Socialism 101.

Person two : The socialism part is where the community came together and fed your kids for free. The capitalism part is where you made them do all the work and stole from them.

Abu Dhabi want you all to know that they absolutely don't own Manchester City but if Manchester City are sanctioned for their industrial scale cheating, then the UAE could pull all investment from Britain.

"On a per capita basis, Ireland is subsidising fossil fuels at a rate up to 5 times the EU average." "The total fossil fuel subsidy figure for 2026 may well now be more than €6 billion." Compare: the new Children’s Hospital cost €2.24 billion & the total Education Budget for 2026 is €13.5 billion.

How do we think this team are feeling about the fact that a squad member made an “impassioned plea” to play games against a bunch of genocide loving freaks and one of his teammates got racially abused, most of the rest were accused of racism and one of the coaches was spat on

this is what i am always trying to explain. when i do a boycott or attend a protest, people say "this won't change anything" that's not the point! the point is we have one choice, at any moment, what WE do with our body, speech, mind. that's what you change in the universe, what yOU do. it matters

Munster need another try here or else we’ll end up with no Irish teams in the playoff spots/top half for the second week in a row. That can’t have happened many times in the various iterations of the Celtic League/URC

Always funny when people get pissy about, of all things, *work to rule*. They are still doing their jobs, to the letter of the law in fact. That is causing problems is a serious indictment of how much extra people are expected to do in their job.
