When you round the corner at the Met, see some unmistakable pottery shapes, and shout Moche!! excitedly, you end up annoying and startling quite a few people. 🏺

Reddish-brown ceramic slip defines its large eyes, limbs, and back against a lighter body; the stirrup spout rises behind its head.Moche ceramic vessel from the north coast of Peru depicting three stylized human figures seated closely together, with two larger figures embracing and a smaller figure beside them. Whilst I’m without a website, I’m continuing to offer paintings at reduced prices. This landscape in oils is large: 100 x 100cm on canvas. €500 + shipping (worldwide). Message me for more details.
Landscape in blues and greens: a lake or cove in the foreground, with river undulating back to a forested skyline. The ridge ascends slightly to the right of the composition, with an expansive mackerel sky above.

New work: The Folded Earth, oil and peat (collected on a walk) on linen, 60 x 80cm
Heavily textured painting through multiple layers of paint and peat. Oranges, browns, black, greys and olive greens used to build a bogland landscape in the foreground: layers of cut-away turf exposed, and the beginnings of rewilding. Heavily outlined shapes of contours, rocks, trees and vegetation, with patches of white bogcotton. An expressive pale olive sky, with burnt umber and white clouds.

Barmouth Harbour, oil on canvas, 60 x 60cm (available: message me for details).
Coastal scene in golds and browns: an estuary at low tide with bare sand in the foreground, punctuated by moorings. A strip of bright water runs from the bridge arches to the far right of the canvas, with blurred mountains beyond. The dark outline of the railway bridge runs from the far left centre of the canvas to the far side of the estuary. The sky is gold, with white clouds.

Trump officially rolled back fuel efficiency standards today. The new target for 2031 is about 34.5 miles per gallon, down from 50.4. That means more gas burned, more pollution, and more money out of drivers’ pockets. So much for making things affordable.

The climate crisis poses a critical defence threat. So why are MPs still being denied access to the full Joint Intelligence Committee report?
Graphic with a map-style weather image in the background and a black-and-white photo of Adrian Ramsay, MP for Waveney Valley. Headline reads: “UK WARNS EL NIÑO POSES CRITICAL DEFENCE THREAT.” A quote from Adrian Ramsay reads: “It’s good that the foreign secretary is presenting the findings of this crucial report to ministers from other governments. But it begs the question, why are MPs in this country still being denied access to the full report? And, most importantly, why has our government still not published its response to how it will address the stark findings?”

Graphite, oil and masking tape on Fabriano Artistico.
Figure of a pregnant woman turned away from the viewer. Her body is just an outline, hands folded over her stomach; the head and neck are shaded with olive green paint, emphasising the tilt of her head upwards, in defiance, with minimal facial details. There is masking tape forming a frame around her head and shoulders, painted over, to obscure the boundaries and incorporate it into the composition. Her eyes are lowered.
