My mom said she read that babies that learn to walk later are smarter, so she discouraged me from trying to walk till I was over a year old. Either that was wrong and this is just how smart I am anyway, or it was right and oh my god how much more stupid would I be if I'd walked sooner.

My colon was just being dramatic on the earlier scan. Super pleased I don’t have to get another colonoscopy this year! Also I love this gastroenterologist, he was great. I hope I never need him again.

I'm thrilled that I'm going to be performing at Sid's for my NINTH burlesque anniversary! Just 9 years ago, I got up on stage for the first time as a performer and it still remains one of my favorite performances. It was everything I wanted it to be.

I had to get a follow up CT scan today and that involved an IV. The first stick didn't work and hurt a lot. Second stick did it, also hurt! The CT contrast feels so weird. To reward myself, I got a fish burrito the size of my face from Baja Burrito.

This is not insignificant part of why I've just kind of stopped watching tv. I pay for 3 tv services and I haven't even turned on my tv in probably 2 months. Between the rate hikes, the ads, and canceling anything I like, it's hard to give a damn. Especially when there are so many books.

The events of 9/11 absolutely changed my family in very significant ways. My then husband would do many tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and get injured. But the detail that I want to share is that no one could reach me that morning because I was tying up the landline illegally downloading music.

I don't want to jinx anything but the nerve pain and aggravating discomfort is a LOT better than last few days. There's still lots of sensation but it's not as painful and distracting anymore. Now I have to keep doing my little PT exercises and not get complacent with it.

After unexpectedly winning her first blue ribbon for a sewn cape in 1981, Carol St. Clair Johnson developed an enduring love for the New Mexico State Fair. The quilt Fair New Mexico-41 Fair Years incorporates more than six hundred of the ribbons she won at the fair every subsequent year except 2020 (when the fair was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic). Johnson earned ribbons for needlework, knitting, crochet, pies, cookies, cakes, canning, jewelry, flowers, vegetables, and potted plants. The title of the quilt is a reference to the state song, and the design places the state's Zia sun symbol at the center. The quilt earned Johnson yet another ribbon: Best in Category (miscellaneous quilt) at the 2023 New Mexico State Fair.
