On the last Friday of every month, my son and I get to come together in community, be jovial and sometimes a little boisterous, and experience an inner-city road network that feels uniquely human-centric: social, safe, calm, and under our management. Thank you, @criticalmassyyc.bsky.social.🚲🌙✨
Sam and I pose from the bikes selfie-style with some members of the critical mass filling the road way behind us. The surroundings are urban, and we are on and controlling a one-way arterial roadway.Sam and I are visible on a bikes in frame. Photo taken by Alyssa Q. We are in an urban scene and nearly under a building span the extends over the roadway.

A chilly, dreary day was made brighter and warmer by attending @sprawlcalgary.bsky.social's printing pop-up to spend time with @klaszus.bsky.social and @calgaryhester.bsky.social along with others, serendipitously, from The Sprawl's readership community. 🇨🇦 Let community lift you, friends.💗
Beatrice, Sam, and I ride our bicycles down a quiet residential street with Calgary's downtown cityscape prominent in the background. Fall foliage dots the road surface, and a tree with a yellowing canopy is prominent at the top of the frame.Sam operates a 1960-era mobile printing press to make a special two-colour print that briefly tells the story of George Stanley's design for Canada's new flag, adopted in 1965. The press is mounted in the cargo hold of a tricycle cargo bicycle. The resulting print, with artwork done by Sam Hester. It contains the illustration of a George Stanley and the new Flag of Canada. The print reads, "George Stanley, a born-and-raised Albertan, designed Canada's Flag in 1964. Recalling his Calgary childhood, he made this sketch -- a flag that kids could easily draw! He sent it off to Ottawa ... and his design ended Canada's great flag debate! 'To me the new flag was a glorious thing, bold and proud, asserting Canada's nationhood for all to see.'" The card bears the signature of Sam Hester, who illustrated it.

Sam and my adventures took us here today. Being here brought together two of Sam’s favourite things: celebrating his Indigenous heritage and trains. Sam found the rock in trans flag colours with the word happy on it. He repatriated it to where it belonged at the nearby Medicine Wheel garden.
Four photo collage with title infinity sign emoji, happy, and steam engine emoji.

First photo: Sam outside in front of a gorgeous

Third photo: selfie of Sam and me in the tipi. Sam has his VIA Rail pin and Métis flag pin on his CP hat.

Tom, a short-haired tabby with brown and black stripes and white patches, is facing forward while having a lie down on the Indiginerds graphic novel on a bed. The cover features an illustration of a diverse group of Indigenous youth posing for a selfie one of the youth is taking. Behind the group is a city. Yesterday’s celebrations for my and @brettbergie.bsky.social’s 20th wedding anniversary: a trip to Deville for some fancy beverages followed by a wonderful dinner at Sky 360 in Calgary Tower. My little family is so amazing every day in every way, and it was a perfect day with them. 🥰
