You're offered $250,000,000 but to claim it you must enter the last video game you've played and stay there for a full year. How are y'all faring in this deal? Vintage Story - avoid bears and the occasional night terror, stay indoors during 'The Event'. Digging, lots and lots of digging.
A stone cottage, a garden farm, and a windmill on a hill, in a wintery scene from Vintage Story. It's a survival game in a Minecraftesque voxel world.

I have a rock! It has lived under my desk (in 6 different abodes, so far). I picked it up on a beach on the Isle of Wight (Whale Chine) in 03 or 04. Being able to rest my foot on it brings me peace. I really need to get back to the island, soon.
A flat, dark grey rock, about 7 inches long by about 5 inches wide, curving to a point at the top right corner. It has many inclusions, in the form of ancient mollusc shells. I have no idea what they might be, but it sure looks cool. And it comes from my favourite place, the Isle of Wight.

Trying to get my nexy #PaintSlam entry before I lose impetus - can't decide though - should 'Villainous Warlock for Scale' be as is (pic 1) or 'Doing a necromancy' (pic2). Excuse the heinous lighting, it was all done in the worst possible haste! Obvs, very rough and ready. Decisions, decisions.

This time he has the upper torso of a plastic Mantic skeleton badly poster-tacked to his base, a very raw serving suggestion for what I'm contemplating.

Ok, I'll try again, after (checks notes) my abject failure in 2023... ...and pretty much since. First model finished! A Renedra Wattle Shed, with unpainted Ral-Partha Europe Villainous Warlock for scale. Guess I gotta paint the Warlock now! #PaintSlam
Paintslam 2026 log, showing one whole model painted - already achieved my hobby goal for the year!A drab looking timber, wattle and thatch outbuilding, with a few accoutrement - a barrel, a basket and a whell, as is tradition. Seen from the front, the door is closed. The same model timer/wattle/thatch building from the back/otheride. It still looks drab, and you can now see weeds growing around it's founddation. You can also see how I attached the roof ridge a little too far towards the rear. Shhhh. Finished is better than perfect right now ;DThe Renedra Timber/Wattle/Thatch shed from previous images from the front again, different angle. You might even to be able to make out the yellowish patch of moss on the thatch here. To the left stands an unpainted 28mm human miniature - the "Villainous Warlock" from Ral-partha Europe. He looks kinda familiar, tbh.

#FestiveTankChallenge Not much progress, the 15mm Shermans have been assembled, and mostly stowage-greebled - the late model on the right needs more, and the PSC (light green, 2nd left) needs some tidying up around the fenders. The Warlord (left) needs most work still... More in the ALT text.
Four model shermans, L>R: Warlord 28mm, needs fiddly bits and the underside of the turret finishing (I'm part way througfh fashioning a replacement for the missing part). Plastic SDoldier Company 15mm, presented desert style with track fenders and modest stowage. Battlefront/FoW, silly pile of boxes and bags on the engine deck - for... reasons... Battlefront/FoW late model A3 (I think, it doesn't have the extra side armour panels of the Jumbo - I think I'll have to make some!) with the fancy 'Fury' 76mm gun. Stowage has started, but I want to go overboard on this one! A random assortment of other WWII vehicles in 15mm (I got distracted!), a Warlord 28mm Matilda II and a couple of barely glimpsed robots lurk in the background. These are all from old projects. I should get back to them...

#FestiveTankChallenge Been a grotty week, mostly, so I've been unwinding by starting assembly of not one, but four Shermans! Found a Jumbo (objectively the coolest looking, with the 76mm gun!) in 15mm whilst looking for the still lost turret base for the Warlord kit. More details in the ALT text.
Four lower hulls and tracks for model Sherman tanks on the left, 28mm Warlod kit, then a PSC kit (those tracks - so fiddly!) and then two Flames of War/Battlefront, those last 3 in 15mm scale. All have had some M6 nuts (6 in the big one, 3 each in the lil ones) glued in for extra heft, then smothered with milliput to keep em from breaking free and rattling about. Theyre viewed from above, resting on a green cutting mat with a 1cm grid. A computer keyboard and bits of mysterious other models can be seen around the periphery.

#FestiveTankChallenge Found my long abandoned Warlord 28mm M4 Shermman in the attic, with uh, most of the parts present, so I'll give it a go! Bonus 15mm PSC and Flames of War/Battlefront. Even I should be abler to get one of the lil ones done, if nothing else!
A small pile of plastic M4 Sherman Tank kits - a Warlord 28mm scale in dark grey, a PSC 15mm in light green, and a 15mm Flames of War/Battlefront, all still on the sprues!

Railway foot bridge in winter.
A narrow railway foot bridge on a cold winters night. There is snow on the ground, and a row of skeletal trees, backlit by the night-glow of the city. It's known as 'the murder bridge' in certain circles, though no murder is known to have occurred there.

There was a brief window when a popular internet gag was about forcing a bot to watch a bunch of something & then write it. Like, "I forced a bot to watch 500 hours of CSI & write a script" followed by the funniest shit you ever read. In the Age of AI Slop, the reality of that joke is way less funny

Powerful statement from the BMA calling the supreme court ruling scientifically illiterate and harmful to trans, bon-binary and intersex people.
EM4
This meeting condemns the Supreme Court ruling defining the term 'woman' with respect to the Equality Act as being based on 'biological sex', which they refer to as a person who was at birth of the female sex', as reductive, trans and intersex-exclusionary and biologically nonsensical. We recognize as doctors that sex and gender are complex and multifaceted aspects of the human condition and attempting to impose a rigid binary has no basis in science or medicine while being actively harmful to transgender and gender diverse people. As such this meeting:
i. Reiterates the BMA's position on affirming the rights of transgender and non-binary individuals to live their lives with dignity, having their identity respected.
ii. Reminds the Supreme Court of the existence of intersex people and reaffirms their right to exist in the gender identity that matches their sense of self, regardless of whether this matches any identity assigned to them at birth.
ill. Condemns scientifically illiterate rulings from the Supreme Court, made without consulting relevant experts and stakeholders, that will cause real-world harm to the trans, non-binary and intersex communities in this country.
iv. Commits to strive for better access to necessary health services for trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people.

You could make observations about the general fecklessness of liberal parties like Labour, unable or unwilling to make things better due to an ideological spine removal. But also sometimes they're just full of bigoted wankers who do the same shitty stuff as their conservative counterparts.

Started panelling & greebling the J-109 Atlas last night, with a 4 day weekend, hopefully I'll get a lot more done. No real plan here, just sort of feeling my way through it. I have Traveller to run on Monday, I should probably prep for that, too! #greeblies #scratch-build #kitbash #scifimodels
THe model ship on the green cutting mat, in profile. Notched panels have been laid on the forward and kower parts of the hull. The marked sections from the previous post have been cut out, so there's a hole right through. Various model kit parts and even some cable-ties have been applied to start making details - welcome to greeblesville! The ship, front on. Close up showing the styrene panels and kit part details.

First post! Was gonna save this for when it's done, but what the heck - another one rumbles along the assembly line... The J-109 Atlas, by @sublightdrive.bsky.social Kinda rough at first (cheap styrene & my shonky bladework), but sanding + first panels and greebles are pulling it together...
A cutting mat, a bottle of Tamiya cement, a brush, tweezers and the first few parts of a model cut from styrene sheet. The cutting mat again, with more styrene parts and the first two hull forms assembled, the third taking shape. A keyboard lurks in the background. The green cutting mat, all the styrene parts have been assembled into a cogent whole. Due to some rough bladework and using some cheap styrene that is far too thick, the parts didn't match up quite right (not helped by my pathalogical inability to follow instructions), so I improvised a lil box on top of the aft hull, to even out the shapes. the first few additional parts - a white metal radar dish, a round gubbin from a soap dispenser pump and a nacelle cut from an old pen barrel lie to the right. the keyboard continues to skulk in the background. The Atlas hull stands on it's tail on the cutting mat, the first few outer hull panels in thinner styrene have been applied to the front of the ship. Some vandal has drawn some lines on the hull - future panels? Greeble outlines? Maybe where the cargo dorors will be? The pen-nacelle from the previous picture is now mounted on the lower front hull, and houses the metal radar dish. Various plastic kit-greebles are heaped on the right, and lower left, some tiny 1/300 scale astronauts...
