Yea, it's pretty wild, especially in 2026. I remember when I started I bought everything at a book store and played with my friends at the pool. The first time I found a lgs and played standard they let me play with an illegal deck because I didn't know about rotation. But that was 20+ years ago...

I have no idea how they do it, market research isn't my thing, but it's a pretty common style of line from Maro. He's always saying the biggest format is kitchen table "play with what I own" for instance.

I still follow a lot, but yea, it's definitely been more fun to not know everything. I was playing against FF and MSH precons the other day and had no idea what half the cards were. It was actually super exciting to read what they did for the first time *in a game*

The crazy thing is that according to Maro you're actually still fairly enfranchised. The majority of magic players apparently buy a few packs every so often as a treat and have no idea what the product schedule looks like, they just get what looks cool.

Mark regularly says the vast majority of Magic players are just playing with what they have. According to him they likely don't even know that Standard exists, let alone most of the other stuff we agonize over as a community. Stuff like this makes a lot more sense starting from there.

Previews are only 1 week long for Trek apparently. They heard we were tired of constant previews and crammed it all together I guess? I also read somewhere the release got moved up a week from the original announcement, so I guess they just shifted prerelease but not previews?

Yea, I just realized that Quint was listed with the others in her post. There was definitely nothing about Quint not existing in the Echoverse. And Valgavoth being an abused angel moth and Marina being the one to use his power to turn the plane into a hellhole is a neat twist on Duskmourn imo

2 years ago my mower broke because a safety switch wasn't clicking. So I removed it from the housing and click it myself. 2 weeks ago that switch caught on something and a wire ripped out, so today I soldered it back on. I swear I will get every cent out of this damn thing before I replace it 🤣

It doesn't. You can cast the creature from your hand, and the spell from your GY. The rules are in the keyword, not enough space on the card. I know the rules aren't out but either Mark or Aaron described it as "we finally figured out Flashback on creatures"

I was just going through all the adventure cards to confirm this. Every time the card has the reminder text, it has the full text. Unless they've decided to make a change there after the Hobbit, it looks like the spell portion is just extra value after your creature died, was milled, discarded, etc.
